Markus Nygren Looking Forward to VHL Draft

Despite the fact that the San Diego Marlins were eliminated in the playoffs, winger Markus Nygren was all smiles in the locker room clear out. He spoke with media about how his season went, and looking to the upcoming VHL draft.

Yeah, I think you know it's tough to lose in the playoffs but this is only the VHLM. As a former pro player myself, someone who was just trying to get some experience/flow back into my game my focus is entirely on the VHL. I've been training hard and waiting for the moment to show that as soon as next season I think I"m ready for the VHL game. My point totals could of been better, I didn't dominate the minors as you sometimes see, but my focus was on getting my game back to a level that I know it can be and getting prepped for a nice long haul in the VHL. So that is why I think I've put more attention on the draft than on the playoffs or the VHLM. The training wheels will be coming off if you will. Still I think I found my skating and hitting game this season at times, and I feel like I'll be a good draftee.

The question of where I'll be drafted, or where I want to be drafted is an interesting one though. For sure, I mean FOR SURE I'd obviously love to play with my younger brother Lucas over in Malmo. But I'm committed to playing for any team that drafts me. I recognize that it's a deep draft and people value all sorts of different things. That said my player manager Devise, has warned me to come in with low expectations as despite tenure, most of the players under his services go later in drafts. I'm not really concerned about where I go, I feel like I can be a steal at any pick and once people see what I can do in a few seasons time they'll be kicking themselves for passing up on me. 

Other than Malmo though, the top teams on my ideal play for list are probably as follows. Prague, Moscow, DC, Helsinki. Davos could be on there too but considering I'd rather play for 4 other EU teams it's tough to rank them too high. DC is probably the highest "dream" team for me to play for over in NA.
