Ligriv Earns Shutout in First Start

Recommended Posts

Sunday afternoon saw a meeting between the Helsinki Titans and the last place HC Davos Dynamo. With Davos scoring just 13 goals through seven games, they provided the Titans with a great opportunity to give their starter Alexander Pepper a night off. In comes Virgil Ligriv @MMFLEX.

Selected 59th overall in the season 67 draft, Ligriv was a project player at the time with an uncertain future. Virgil proved his naysayers wrong and earned himself a spot on the season 69 Helsinki Titans out of training camp. After appearing in all 72 contests last season for the Minnesota Storm of the VHLM it is certain to be a more restful season for the 19 year old.

He took to the ice Sunday with a confident look in his eye. The 6'0", 200 pound Ligriv took the opportunity at hand and stopped all 10 shots faced in the contest. The Titans strolled to a 7-0 victory firing 62 shots on Finn Davison who despite allowing seven, had a strong showing behind the clubs anaemic depth of just eight skaters. A shutout is a shutout no matter the amount of saves you make. For Ligriv this was the perfect way to ease himself into the professional scene.
