With the season 37 season wrapped up it's time for the playoffs to get under way. The Minot Gladiators finished in second place in the North American Conference this past season and will be taking on the Saskatoon Wild in the first round of the VHLM playoffs. On paper it seems the the Gladiators are going to steam-roll the Wild and advance to face the Yukon Rush in the North American Conference finals.

 

After only getting third line minutes his first season on a talent-filled Bern Royals team, Jakob Linholm was given a chance to shine this past season. After being given the captaincy at the beginning of the season, Linholm has helped lead this team to the playoffs and he is looking to help get this team to the next round and beyond.

"It's been a great season in Minot and we've had a lot of success this past season. We've had a great bunch of guys here this season and we have been saying all year that we are a championship caliber team and we are going to be looking to prove it in the playoffs."

 

It has been tough for the Gladiators to try and remained focused on the current game because many experts have them moving on quite easily. Linholm has been trying to keep focus in the locker room and make sure that everyone keeps their focus on the upcoming series.

 

"It can be tough to remain focused but I think that we have managed to do a pretty good job despite the fact that you guys keep bringing up the fact that we're supposed to win. Anything can happen in the playoffs and any team can win the series. We are just trying to remained focused on the task ahead and take it one game at a time."

 

Linholm has also achieved personal accomplishments this past season. While adjsuting to his life as a captain, he managed to put up 63 goals and 66 assists this past season. He showed a very balanced game all year and has improved vastly all season.

 

 

"I really took it upon myself to get a more rounded game this season and I wanted to try and help out the team anyway I could. I really need to thank my team for the points this season, I couldn't have done it without them. It took a team effort and hard work paid off for us this season. Now were just trying to focus on the playoffs and keep trying to attain our goal of a championship."

 

This season has also seen Linholm go on some pretty crazy adventures with NHL stars such as Tyler Seguin and Patrick Kane. There have also been reports that he has been recently involved a relationship with pop sensation Katy Perry. She has recently been seen at a few Gladiators games and fans have been wondering if she will be appearing at any games during the playoffs.

 

"Well I can't say for sure that she will be there but I guess you can never count anything out. She is pretty busy tho."
