Alex Burrows Journal - Entry One

One and a half years after retirement Alex Burrows is coming back to Hockey but not in the same league as before. The former first liner for the Vancouver Canucks believes he will be back to do the same here in the VHL.

Whatever team I decide to sign with will have a hard working power forward. Who can play on both ends of the ice. I would love to stay around his home province of Quebec. So I am looking at going to Ottawa or to Halifax. I have came to the conclusion though that I will not be able to choose what team drafts me in the VHLM. I will need to go with the flow and be happy with whoever selects me in the draft this summer. But I do know I will be able to pick who I go to for my first couple games in the VHLM. The fun part will be in a season and a half when I get drafted into the VHL will be where I end up. I could end up in Vancouver playing for the Wolves. A team around where I used to play when I did for the Canucks. I remember when the Wolves came to Vancouver after leaving Quebec. It was a sad and also a good day for me as I would be able to watch them live more often. I would also like to head over seas and play in one of the many European teams in this league. I have yet to play a game in Europe and I believe it would be fun.

My next nine seasons in the Victory Hockey League will be fun for me and my family. We cannot wait until we find out where we end up in this league and all the cool places we could travel to together. All the friends we could meet along the way. My future line mates which I cannot wait to meet. To my future General managers I will prove my worth to you guys by doing something and to those crummy Ottawa Senators who gave up on me I will show you I can still play hockey!

Well it's almost time for me to go here and I will talk next week in my next journal. But before then it's time to announce my goals for the rest of the season. I believe I will be able to score at least five goals in whatever amount of games I get this season. My goal for points would be eleven yes it's a low number but I know I won't be playing the best minutes off the bat. I'm ready to be the heart and soul of a locker room and be a leader on and off the ice. These next couple weeks are going to be big for me though. Finally coming back to playing hockey after not playing for the past couple of years I know I will be rusty but I will hopefully get pass it.
