Mental Diarrhea on Seattle

Once again I need to write a media spot for the week because i’m a TPE whore. My usual topic of writing about the Seattle Bears has done me well all season so let’s continue with this tradition.

First up on the docket is a semi blockbuster trade involving the Seattle Bears and the New York Americans. We saw two S66 draftees switch teams, Guy Legrande and Kevin Low. Kevin Low was an instrumental piece helped the Seattle Bears win a cup last season. Scoring 18 points, 7 Goals 11 Assists in 14 games with 3 game winning goals. On the other side we have Guy Legrande who received the most improved last season and posted 75 points as a defenseman. The trade wasn’t a one for one and involved a third round pick going to New York to account for the difference in training. The Bears seem to be doubling down on their defensive core with Legrande to try to be contenders for a while. Most of the Bears roster comes from the S66 draft. With Legrande joining other S66 draftees in Rayz Funk, Ambrose Stark, Berocka Sundqvist, Henrik Zoiderberg, Hulk Hogan, Scott Greene, and Acyd Burn. The trade improves the Bears on the back end and gives the Bears a top pairing defenseman past season 73.

At the end of the season the Bears are losing two players to retirement. Leph Twinger and Maxim Kovalchuk have hit the age of retirement and will no longer be a part of the team. Kovalchuk who was known as one of the best defenseman in the league recently switched to center to fill a gap on the Bears. With the retirement of Kovalchuk expect to see Scott Greene play a more prominent role on the team. The defenseman Leph Twinger was signed as a free agent this past offseason to give the Bears help on the back end. With the retirement of Twinger the Bears will need to find a replacement on defense.

As for this Season, currently the Bears sit second in the North American conference and second in the entire league. The only team above them is their conference rivals in the Vancouver Wolves. The Vancouver wolves are 35-15-1 with 71 points, the Bears are 33-16-2. Both teams are coming off a loss but Vancouver has one more win in the last ten than the Bears (8-2-0 vs 7-3-0).

Similar to last season the Bears do not have a top 10 player but instead get contributions down the line up. The Bears have 5 players in the top 50 skaters in the league, Dan Willinsky, Joel Ylonen, Acyd Burn, Hulk Hogan, John Frostbeard. Through 51 games the clear leader in goals for the Bears is Dan Willinsky with 27, assists is Hulk Hogan with 39, points goes back to Dan Willinsky. The team’s biggest goon seems to be Leph Twinger with 118 penalty minutes while Dan Willinsky takes the cake for being the most physical with 177 hits. Shots Blocked and minutes played belong to Guy Legrande, the team's newest defenseman. And the Teams power play specialists seem to be a tie between Acyd Burn and Guy Legrande both with 15 power play points.
