TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Trades Well if you’ve been reading you know what this Media Spot is all about which is trades. This will be the 3rd trade I will talk about and all have included the Riga Reign. To Right Wing Jesse Jussal To Center Abdullah Jabir Season 20 Madrid 2nd Round Draft Pick ~ Right Wing Keon Henderson Trade Breakdown ~ Madrid Thunder Season 18: Jesse Jussal Regular Season (RIG) – 21 GP | 13 G | 17 A | 30 P | +9 | 28 PIM | 58 H | 160 SH | 5 SB (MAD) – 49 GP | 35 G | 24 A | 59 P | +20 | 75 PIM | 117 H | 253 SH | 13 SB Playoffs (MAD) – 13 GP | 4 G | 8 A | 12 P | -9 | 8 PIM | 38 H | 74 SH | 4 SB Jesse Jussal started out the season in Riga, but was later traded abruptly to division rival Madrid Thunder. He was enjoying a rather successful season in Riga putting up 30 points in 21 games. After a change of scenery, Jussal kept up the pace as he put up 59 points in 49 games. In the playoffs, Jussal met his former team as Madrid would take on the Riga Reign in the first round of the playoffs. In the playoffs overall, Jussal was able to put up 12 points in 13 games. This was by all means was not terrible but some feel he could have did better as he finished in the middle of the pack in terms of team scoring. The reason Jesse Jussal was traded is because he was retiring at the end of the season. He spent only half a year in the Thunder organization. Trade Breakdown ~ Riga Reign Season 18: Abdullah Jabir Regular Season (VAS) – 23 GP | 13 G | 18 A | 31 P | -2 | 11 PIM | 40 H | 71 SH | 17 SB (GOT) – 51 GP | 10 G | 28 A | 38 P | +5 | 6 PIM | 11 H | 87 SH | 4 SB Playoffs (GOT) – 9 GP | 2 G | 7 A | 9 P | -7 | 2 PIM | 9 H | 33 SH | 2 SB Abdullah Jabir at the time of the trade was in the VHLM. This was before Season 20, so if you got traded you automatically went to that team’s farm system. He started off the season with the Vasteras Baby Eagles putting up 31 points in 23 games. He was going to have a great season, but that all changed when he was traded to Riga. The Riga Reign farm team, the Gothenburg Eagles, were very deep at the time so Jabir was forced into a secondary role. In the 51 games played in Gothenburg, he put up just 38 points in 51 games. The playoffs were going along smoothly for the Eagles after they beat the Kolari Panthers in 5 games, but they were swept in the Brampton Battalion. In the 9 total games he was played in he put up 9 points. This was where the good news ended as he was an ugly -7 for the playoffs. Season 19: Abdullah Jabir Regular Season (OSL) – 72 GP | 53 G | 57 A | 110 P | +16 | 60 PIM | 119 H | 430 SH | 15 SB Abdullah Jabir would spend another season in the VHLM, this time with the newly named Reign afflation, the Oslo Screaming Sperm, wait what? Oh sorry, Seamen. In the 72 games he played in, he was able to flourish in his new role as the go to guy. He put up 110 points including 53 goals. This, however, was not good enough to propel the new franchise into the playoffs as they wound up missing it by 20 points. Season 20: Abdullah Jabir Regular Season (SSK) – 30 GP | 24 G | 48 A | 72 P | +35 | 6 PIM | 35 H | 169 SH | 3 SB Regular Season (OSL) – 41 GP | 51 G | 59 A | 110 P | +41 | 33 PIM | 82 H | 411 SH | 33 SB Playoffs (OSL) – 5 GP | 3 G | 9 A | 12 P | -2 | 2 PIM | 11 H | 27 SH | 2 SB The VHLM wound up going through major changes this season. They would break the umbilical cord from the VHL teams and become fully independent. They would draft prospects every season, just because Jabir was drafted by the Saskatoon Wild, this would not mean he wasn’t Reign property, it just means he would play for the Wild. He was enjoying his season in Canada, but was traded back to Oslo. In Saskatoon, he would put up 72 points in 30 games. In Oslo, he put up an astonishing 110 points in 41 games or 2.68 points per game. The Screaming Seamen wound up being beaten in 5 games in the playoffs. Jabir put up 12 points in 5 games. This magical season was all for not because the Seamen goal couldn’t stop a beach ball. Season 21: Abdullah Jabir Regular Season (OSL) – 38 GP | 57 G | 81 A | 138 P | +65 | 29 PIM | 62 H | 344 SH | 18 SB Regular Season (RIG) – 35 GP | 5 G | 16 A | 21 P | +13 | 24 PIM | 50 H | 51 SH | 4 SB Playoffs (RIG) – 6 GP | 1 G | 3 A | 4 P | 0 | 6 PIM | 14 H | 11 SH | 0 SB Abdullah Jabir started the season in the VHLM but it was now apparent that he was for a better term “overcooked” as he put up 138 points in 38 games. Jabir would be called up finally and he was not bad at all. In the 35 games in the VHL he put up 21 points in 35 games. The Reign would finish first in the European Conference, but would be upset by HC Davos Dynamo. In these 6 games Jabir would put up 4 points. Season 22: Abdullah Jabir Regular Season (RIG) – 72 GP | 10 G | 17 A | 27 P | -44 | 54 PIM | 94 H | 147 SH | 2 SB In Season 22, much was expected by Abdullah Jabir since he put up 21 points in 35 games. He was very disappointed because he barely surpassed that total in more than half the games. In the 72 games, he put up 27 points. The Reign ended up missing the playoffs as a result. He was also a very ugly -44. All that success early in his career led to this point? Apparently, it did as after Season 22, Abdullah Jabir would move on to greener pastures in Seattle as a free agent. Jesse Jussal only spent half a season with the Madrid Thunder. That being said he made it all the way to the finals. They may not have won but with the way Jabir turned out this may have been the right choice to trade for Jabir. Final Analysis Career With Madrid Thunder ~ Jesse Jussal Regular Season (MAD) – 49 GP | 35 G | 24 A | 59 P | +20 | 75 PIM | 117 H | 253 SH | 13 SB Playoffs (MAD) – 13 GP | 4 G | 8 A | 12 P | -9 | 8 PIM | 38 H | 74 SH | 4 SB Career With Riga Reign ~ Abdullah Jabir Regular Season (VHLM) – 232 GP | 195 G | 273 A | 468 P | +162 | 134 PIM | 309 H | 1441 SH | 73 SB Playoffs (VHLM) – 14 GP | 5 G | 16 A | 21 P | -9 | 4 PIM | 20 H | 60 SH | 4 SB Regular Season (RIG) – 107 GP | 15 G | 33 A | 58 P | -31 | 78 PIM | 144 H | 198 SH | 6 SB Playoffs (RIG) – 6 GP | 1 G | 3 A | 4 P | 0 | 6 PIM | 14 H | 11 SH | 0 SB Well, this would seem to be a hard one to judge wouldn’t it? You would be quite mistaken actually because, Riga never got out of the first round with Abdullah Jabir nor did they make the playoffs in the other season they managed to keep him. He may have torn the VHLM a new one, but this isn’t judging by VHLM, this is judging by VHL. In twice as many games with Riga, Jabir fell 1 point short of matching what Jesse Jussal did in half a season in Madrid. In my opinion, the Madrid Thunder won this trade.
