Unsung Hero – Greg Eagles

The Vancouver Wolves are coming to the end of a very successful regular season. After a disappointing follow-up to their championship winning S67 run which saw the team finishing seventh in the league standings and being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, the Wolves came back with perseverance and finished atop the league standings. While many have pointed to the resurgent offense with such contributors as HHH, Julius Freeman and Shawnomir Jagr, and often overlooked and underappreciated piece of the puzzle is their goaltender Greg Eagles.

Coming into his third season with the Vancouver Wolves, and his second as full-time starter, Eagles had something to prove to his teammates. And prove his skill to them he did. He managed to improve his save percentage from 90.2% last season all the way to 91.7% this year. Another impressive change was his goals against average which dropped from 2.85 all the way down to 2.3.

Greg Eagles, while still not at the skill level of the top flight guys, is poised to become a true superstar at the position in the near future. It would only cement his turnaround season if he were able to continue to play his unsung hero role and play a part in a potential championship run for the Vancouver Wolves.
