TheFlash 317
Every draft seems to be filled with high end players. Players who are recreates, and start with a nice bonus on their TPE earning. The VHL S71 Entry Draft is no different. This draft has over a dozen players who started with such a bonus, which should lead to some very high end players come draft time. This article will be a short recap of how some of these players performed in their limited time after the trade deadline. Each player will be entered into the VHLM draft coming up in the next week, so think of their first 25 games as a preview of their skills. 1) Erik Killinger, Left Wing, 214 TPE Goals: 2 Assists: 6 Points: 8 +/- : +13 Killinger ranks number one in terms of total points earned so far. He played for a stacked Saskatoon team that absolutely dominated their opponents. Despite limited ice time, Killingermanaged to make an impact and will be a top player in the VHLM this coming season. 2) Kyl Oferson, Center, 207 TPE Goals: 10 Assists: 4 Points: 14 +/-: 0 Oferson is a goal scoring centerman, who chipped in nicely for the Hounds, including scoring nine goals in the playoffs. Oferson could come out of this class as the top goal scorer, and will make an immediate impact in the big leagues for a team that needs the help. Look for him to score a boatload next season. 3) Roque Davis, Defence, 205 TPE Goals: 6 Assists: 15 Points: 21 +/-: 10 Our first of two defencemen on this list, Davis has all the makings of a big minute logging number one defenceman. He’s got size, offensive skills and came in at just under one shot blocked per game. Whatever team drafts him will be acquiring a power play quarterback who will play 25+ minutes a night. 4) Jim Bob, Left Wing, 191 TPE Goals: 2 Assists: 13 Points: 15 +/-: 3 Bob is a massive power forward, standing at 6’4 and weighing in at over 230 pounds. He contributed nicely in his limited time with San Diego. He also averaged over three hits per game and showed some grit with 31 PIMS. As he grows his offensive game should grow with him to nicely compliment his building reputation as a power forward. 5) Ola Vikingstad, Center, 191 TPE Goals: 4 Assists: 2 Points: 6 +/-: 8 Vikingstad is another player who had his VHLM audition with Mississauga. A similar build to Jim Bob, Vikingstad is just a hair larger and showed a knack for getting into the dirty areas to score his goals. He projects as a goal scoring player who will throw his weight around with ease. He averaged just under two hits per game, and will likely see that number increase along with his playing time this upcoming season. 6) Stone Wolski, Goaltender, 191 TPE Wins: 11 Losses: 1 GAA: 2.42 SV%: 0.872 Our first goalie on this list (and one of only four in the draft as of this writing) is one who had a great showing in limited action, losing only one of his twelve starts. Posting fantastic numbers, Wolski did himself a huge favour and is lock to be the first goalie taken. I wouldn’t be surprised if he went 2nd overall to the Bulls, as goaltending really set them back last season and they’re in desperate need of a puck stopper. 7) Hugh Jass, Defenceman, 151 TPE Goals: 13 Assists: 14 Points: 27 +/: -14 Jass is the last player on this list, and had a very intriguing tryout with Houston. The Bulls were downright putrid, which allowed Jass to step in right away and play big minutes, something that those above him on this list didn’t have the luxury of. Jass and Davis are the top two talents on the bluelinein this draft, and both project as franchise defencemen. Jassblocked nearly three shots per game and also was a major contributor on the power play, scoring eight times on the man advantage. Thanks for reading folks, hope this formats okay I’m posting from my phone. jRuutu 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/75438-s71-prospect-season-review/ Share on other sites
