Knight Ends VHL Career Cup-less

Blake Knight was a perennial team player, sticking with Vasteras through thick and thin.

VASTERAS, Sweden - In Blake Knight's first VHL season, he was a young, inexperienced, and green VHL depth defenseman playing for a Vasteras team that had hopes for making the playoffs after taking a huge gamble trading off picks in return for one season rentals Jarvis Baldwin, CAL G, and Jack Mason. Adding Klaus Muller and Vladimir Boomchenko to the blueline in the offseason, Vasteras entered the season with four defenders: Boomchenko/Muller on the top line, with youngsters Malcom Spud and Blake Knight on the second pairing. Spud was later traded to New York, leaving the Iron Eagles with three defenseman, who did a fine job in picking up the slack. Knight broke onto the scene with 20 goals and 28 assists for a total of 48 points in his rookie season. However after this season, Blake Knight would not see any playoff action until his final season, S37, which saw Vasteras once again lose in the first round (the Iron Eagles lost to the Titans 4-3 in Knight's rookie year), this time to the Riga Reign, in 7 games. In his short playoff career, Knight scored a total of 7 points in 13 games, along with some other surprisingly good stats for a lower-end defenseman. For the former captain of the Iron Eagles in dark times, Blake Knight had to leave on a bittersweet note in lighter ones.
