The Houston Bulls has a rough season last year. After ending up dead last in the league, their fortunes may have changed after the recent VHLM Entry Draft. The Bulls had three of the top four picks in the draft, and came out with top players at each of the main positions. At first overall, the Bulls selected Erik Killinger. The highly skilled winger put up 13 points in 24 games on a very deep Saskatoon team, and is an early candidate to be the league leader in points. At second overall, Houston chose their goaltender, Stone Wolski. Wolski had an impressive stint in Mexico City, winning 11 of his 12 starts. Finally, at fourth overall, the Bulls took defenceman Hugh Jass. Jass was a waiver pickup for the Bulls, and returns to his place anchoring the blue line in all situations. Jass had 27 points in 23 games, and showed a real knack for quarterbacking the powerplay.

But a team can’t win with just three players, and Houston GM Frostbeard has been furiously working the phones to build his team around these likely one and done players. On Thursday, he shipped out Blake Bridges, Ethan Magee,  Lucas Crofford, and a first round pick for Kristopher McDagg. McDagg is a VHLM veteran, who is entering his third full season in the league. He has 34 goals and 81 points over 164 games. He’ll likely step into a top line role in what could be his final season before his jump to the big leagues.
