Mediocre Goaltending Currently Enough for Ottawa

Recommended Posts

Despite leading the league in wins, Ottawa's goal tending has proven to be mediocre in the other stat categories. Bruden is sitting 6th in overall Save Percentage (5th among starters) and 5th in Goals Against Average (4th among starters). Although he has played in all 14 of Ottawa's games this season, his shots against are among the lowest in the league, so his middling stats have not been exposed as of yet.

Ottawa is currently on a roll by their blistering hot offense, and shut down defense, so as long as those numbers are allowed to remain stellar they should not be exposed, however should both of those move more centered they could be in for a hard check in the mirror.

As the season goes on hopefully Bruden will be able to improve these numbers, his start last season were decent to very good when he was receiving a ton of shots against, so perhaps the statistics at the moment are low due to a low number of shots against?

Time will tell if these anomalies will continue later in the season.
