Where Does Recent Malmo News Leave Markus Nygren?

It was with great sadness that we learned recently that Malmo GM Chris Miller would be stepping down the reigns as GM due to personal health reasons. While I did know this was coming before it was announced as I had learned about the health scare that my good friend Miller recently faced, it did leave me wondering what would happen to Markus Nygren once the other shoe dropped. While it may not be known to some, I named Markus in conjuction with ADV's other player Lucas Nygren. The two, are brothers born in Malmo and the plan was to see them try to play together for their careers. ADV is rightfully taking a step back from the league while he deals with the proper priorities, meaning Markus will now be the lone Nygren in the league. 

 

This leaves Markus in an odd spot, depending on what new GM @FrostBeard decides to do. I can say for certain that my plan was to never test FA with Markus, obviously, but that given the circumstances I'm not opposed to joining another team. I'd say the narrative that Markus has to try and stay with Malmo for his career is probably dead, but to be honest...I'd rather try to test free agency with him as little as possible, or not at all if I can help it. So regardless of where his travels take him, I hope wherever it is it's a long term contract with a team that could use his services for the long haul. But as with a lot of this in the VHL, your players fate can often be out of your own hands. With a rookie contract set to expire at the end of S71, it seems like some more options may be open, so we'll have to wait and see.
