SlapshotWrangler 864
CALGARY - Jacques Lafontaine has been playing well considering that he is a rookie. He currently leads the league in wins with 25 and has a respectable goals against average and save percentage with 2.49 GAA and 0.918 save percentage. He has shown his potential backing this strong Calgary Wranglers team. It's halfway through the Season 71 season and so far, he has seemed to settle in. The Wranglers have had a great season and are looking for a great run in the last half of this season. "Halfway already? Dang. Time goes fast. But yeah, I guess we're looking for a strong finish. I mean, we might be one of the top teams right now but we haven't clinched a playoff spot, right? I don't see an X beside our name in the standings. So we gotta continue our strong play and I gotta keep the puck out. My team is great and it comes down to me making saves. The forwards can score all they want but if I'm not making saves, it could cost us. So I'm just trying to get better. Mostly improving my skating, learning from veteran goalies, trying to learn how to read plays better, all that stuff. I'm not saying I'm the difference maker, that I'm the reason we're winning. Never say that. The entire team is the reason why. Every person plays a part. I might not be a big reason we're winning but I can easily become a big reason we're losing." When a reporter told him that they should not worry because they were one of the top teams, he replied with this. "No, we shouldn't worry. We should be prepared though. We should continue fight hard. I mean, the Buffalo Sabres were once first place in the 2018-19 season but then look what happened to them! They dropped! Even the Coyotes this year in the National Hockey League were one of the top pacific teams but now they aren't even in the wild card. I don't want us to follow that trend. We'll reach the playoffs for sure." The Wranglers have had an impressive season with a record of 25 wins, 13 losses in regulation, and 0 overtime and shootout losses and are continuing to play well against their opponents. "We're just as good, if not better, than we were last year. Then again, most of us were on the roster last year. The only thing we could do differently is make it all the way and win. We had a great opportunity last season and I hope we can take advantage of our opportunities this season." Jacques Lafontaine hopes to continue his solid play and wants to show his team that they can depend on him. "My team is great and they are all very talented and hard-working. They continue to dominate and I want to be able to be the solid goaltender they are looking for. I don't really care about becoming a franchise goaltender or superstar. If I can make saves when needed, that's good enough for me." animal74 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/80602-ohhhhhh-were-halfway-there/ Share on other sites
