The Prague Phantoms are in the thick of the race for the #1 seed and home court advantage in the European Conference. As a result, the team has had to make some decisions in regards to evaluating and realign their positioning in order to make the most out of the run down the final stretch. As a result, a Prague Phantom since Day 1, Willie Dredge has been dealt away to Calgary.

"Man this trade really hits home for me, you know? Willie and I have been teammates since our Yukon days in the VHLM. Seabass Perrin too - we've stuck together so far, Dredge was the third leg of our trio. Solid guy, I've always enjoyed chatting with him form now and then in the locker room. He doesn't stir much, just comes in and do his thing and goes out of the building. I know that he didn't seem like a good fit here, but the guy was coming in every day and try to figure out how to best align with us, and vice versa.

That's my kind of guy. So, to bid farewell to him is a little tough on me personally. I was kinda bummed when another one of our boys, Erik Draven decided to leave the team last season. Now Dredge too? Uh… I don't know. But I guess that is the nature of the game, the business of professional sports. You make relationships, connections with guys, and the team management just does whatever they think is the best for the team. Sure, there's some player input -- but ultimately, how can we say no to something that the team management thinks is best for the team?

We're all under contract here, folks. After all, we are all working toward one universal goal and that's to raise up the Cup at the end of the season. If I didn't think that our goals were aligning, I would be asking for a way out of this team. So, yeah. That's all I got for today. Got to keep our heads in the game and our eyes on the ultimate goal ahead of us."

Dredge wanted a change of scenery because STHS was not being as kind to him here as he would have liked, and rather than lose him for free at the end of the season, I got something for him. If it was strictly what I thought was best for the team, our guy would still be in purple, with a shiny new contract. That wasn't what he felt was best for him though, and I can respect that.
