Gainer’s Draft Night Experience:

As the VHL Season 72 entry draft on Saturday, Joseph Gainer and his family gathered together in their quaint living room to watch the draft take place. While there would be no giant gathering for the draft, that didn’t stop Gainer from looking his best. Rocking a fresh buzzcut and cleanly shaven face, he donned a 3-piece suit so white that it made Lebron James draft day suit look dark grey by comparison.

Snacks were aplenty, with the ultimate chip, Doritos Intense Pickle, being a fan favourite. Also, on tap were yogurt covered pretzels, dark chocolate bark, and a lonely vegetable tray in the corner. Drinks included the finest tap water that Hamilton had to offer. The highlight of the night came when Toronto traded into the back end of the second round, which caused a roar to come from the room as Gainer and family realized what could be happening. A hush took over the room that had been rambunctious for most of the night, as the family huddled on the couch to watch the selection come in. When his name went up on the board, with the Legion logo next to it, the room erupted back into its rambunctiousness. Gainer was hit with a 4-way hug from his mother and father, older sister and younger brother, all overcome with joy!

It might not have been the draft night season 72 prospects expected, but the personal touch each player was able to add, made it all the more special.

Review time!

Man this may just be one of the best articles I've read, such a fluent pace with with character detail and a sense of homeyness that I haven't really experienced before, now I haven't read every article ever but I can't ignore how this one made me feel. While I think one could make an argument that this is to filled with detail I think the focus on detail was the right choice, what much else is there to say about being drafted other than your excited and/or happy to play for the team? Here we get a feeling for how Gainer looks as well as his professionalism despite this draft not being done in the normal way, all the food mentioned is a good touch to, making feel more special than just another day of watching TV. The sense of family here though is my favorite part, we get a small peak into Gainer's life and see his whole family be happy for him, and the build up to after the trade and than when he was selected was great. This may not really cover a whole lot but the detail is what I think makes this a great article, I'm gonna say 10/10.
