Hextall arrives in style

When Hextall was picked up by Halifax way back in season 69 his car for getting to the stadium and back to his hotel room wasn't anything special, a 1992 Mercury Topaz given to him from his mother, like the one seen here.

 

and believe it or not but Hextall drove it to Halifax and than when he was drafted by Minnesota, he drove it their to. We reached out to Hextall about his old car. "Well I grew up riding in that car, I remember all the long car trips we had in it to Alberta and sometimes Saskatchewan and in those 16 years of riding in it I think the car only broke down once or twice, she was very reliable, I took my drivers test in the car as well. My mom got a new car when I was nearing 17 so the Topaz became mine and when I was drafted I didn't exactly like the idea of renting out a car so I figured I'd just drive there in the Mercury and than to Minny as well ans she never broke down." We followed up by asking why he got a new one. "First I didn't get rid of the Topaz, I still have it, I think the car will be better for long road trips but now that I'm here in Toronto to stay, I'd figured I'd get something more classy, I've always liked cars growing up and I can see myself adding more to my collection later on but for my first choice I had to go with a classic." Hextall is of course referencing the 1969 Doge Charger he bought just a few days ago
