As we get closer to the halfway point of the regular season, things are starting to become clearer in both the VHL and the VHLM.  In the minors, Yukon Rush goaltender Jean-Pierre Camus has quietly been putting together what could become an excellent season.  Having started all of Yukon’s 34 games this season, Camus has faced the third-most shots of any goaltender in the league at 1,247 - only Calvin Harvey and Thomas Rivera of the cellar-dwelling San Diego Marlins and Houston Bulls have faced more.  Despite this, Camus is putting up a .904 save percentage at the time of writing, the highest of any VHLM goaltender to have played a significant number of games this season.  With the Rush only one point back of the Halifax 21st for the final wild card spot, Camus looks to be a central figure in determining Yukon’s playoff hopes down the line.  It’s somewhat surprising to see from a player who, due to the wealth of goalies available, fell all the way to 42nd overall in the recent VHLM draft.

“It’s been nice to start here for Yukon,” says Camus.  “I enjoy being the guy that the team relies on, and it’s nice to be in this position so early in my career.  I like trying to steal some games as a goalie.  Having that pressure helps me to perform.  Hopefully I can take that into the playoffs.”
