VHL Expansion: Good or Bad?

I just found out the news last week that the VHL will be expanding from 12 to 16 teams next season. This is a great move by the VHL for multiple reasons and will be discussing these reasons below.

 

1) More Players

As the player base of the VHL continues to expand, it allows more players to enter the VHL and play there. I have seen several new members join in the past month including myself and a couple of friends and I'm sure everyone is recruiting people to join the site.

 

2) Interesting Playoff Runs

Next season, we could see one or multiple expansion teams make a cinderella run in the Continental Cup Playoffs. Who knows, maybe we could a see a cinderella Continental Cup Final with two slippers.

 

3) More GM Positions

These new teams also grant new GMs a chance to get in on the action whether it be as a GM or an AGM. That is an extra 4 GM and 4 AGM roles across the 4 expansion teams. We also will see more player movement and more from the draft with the expansion so the front office will be getting a little bit busier next season.

 

Final Thoughts:

I think this expansion is the exact right move by the VHL at this time. It brings way for possibly new league champions within the next 5 seasons and I would be lying if I said I wasn't impressed by the way this was all handled.
