Blazzer 759
Journey to the VHL This all started when I saw an ice hockey game in Malaysia, where I’m from. I stood by the ice rink, amazed by their skill and speed on the ice. The game was intense and tight because the score was 3-2 with 2 minutes left into the 3rd period of a playoff game. When the buzzer sounded signalling the end of it all, I told myself that I had to start playing this sport that I had just found. And that was 10 years ago. Now, I play hockey in Ontario, Canada and I realise that I have grown so much in terms of skill and passion for the game. People say practice makes perfect and that is true. If you put your heart and mind into it, you will succeed. I trained hard and long everyday and my motivation is to play in the VHL. VHL has always been a league I wanted to be part of for a long time ever since I played in Canada. Soon after years of hard work, I played for a team based in Brampton for 3 years. I didn’t start out amazing and our team didn’t make the playoffs. However, that made me push harder to realise my dream of being in the VHL. My second year in Brampton was better than ever. We played 60 games and I had 20 goals and 35 assists, totalling 55 points. My confidence was sky high at this point. I made sure I was consistent in my last year with Brampton because this determined if I could play in the VHL. Sure enough, I was and had more points than ever. Most importantly, I also improve my game in the defensive zone, speed up the ice to join the rush etc. After the season ended, I got an offer to play in VHLM for the Mississauga Hounds and I must say I was stoked. The VHLM was my gateway to the VHL and without a doubt, I accepted the offer. I am certain that I haven’t reached the peak. I still want to excel and be better to contribute to the team. When I played my first game for the team, I felt grateful for everyone that has helped me reach this point of my life. Moments like these are the reason why I want to be better and win games.
