jacobcarson877 2,563
Jacob Carson: Junior Review Hockey has always been the goal for Jacob. After a huge growth spurt heading into high school, and some heavy off-ice training at the local gym set Jacob up for success leading into high school. Unfortunately, being in a smaller town his competition was not great and neither were his teammates. Scouts managed to get a decent look at Jacob at a tournament and were dazzled mostly by his size, but also his maturity between the pipes. Jacob put up mediocre numbers through high school, dragging his defense-poor team through every game. He has never won an individual or team award, but with better exposure, teammates, and coaching, he could turn into a potential stud in junior. No way to tell whether he could make it in the pros, but his big frame certainly gives him an advantage over other potential draftees. His off-ice attitude is a bonus for him. In his few interviews with scouts, they have all complimented his calm demeanor and light humor. He meshed very well with his team, including coaching and training staff. His drive to win is also commendable, as his high school team would not have been half as successful without his constant dedication to saving pucks. His individual skills lack polish, and his technique is shabby at best. OVERALL: Currently an interesting prospect to watch. Could have a high ceiling, could be a bust. Eager to get more exposure and find himself a home where he can carve himself a role and good professional relationships in order to push to make the big league one day. POTENTIAL: Hard to say, either an A-, or a D. These next few months of development will be crucial to figuring out his hockey value PROS: Already built like a pro, great attitude. Willing to learn from anyone to succeed. Always brings a winning attitude to the rink, even in the toughest stretches. CONS: All his technique. Consistently at the wrong angle, but not by much. A little slow from post to post and in butterfly to standing speed. Tends to let in squeakers from making 90% of a save. Not a strong presence in the locker room, which could be seen as a pro or con, and for now it is not a big deal considering how young he is. Still not entirely comfortable in his body and could use a lot more reps in order to solidify his awareness in the net.
