Boychuk's New Home: An Exclusive Interview

Player's go through many changes during a hockey career, and for this player at hand it is no different. His story has had it's ups and downs so far, and simply put it has just begun. We are well into Season 38 and for the Wranglers, there have not been many surprises to this point. Thirty-seven games into the season, they are 11-21-5 for 27 points sitting at 7th in the league. This is to be expected of this club, being in a rebuild. They have many keys that they can build around for years to come, so one can expect them to only get better season after season.

One of the key players to this roster is centerman Travis Boychuk. The skill and leadership he brings to the team is something that many GM's look for when drafting a player. At this point of the season, he is leading the Wranglers squad with 56 points in 37 games. Nobody expected this kind of output from the rookie, and he seems to be thriving in the spotlight of stardom. In those 37 games, he has 17 goals which is more than any analyst had guessed for a pass-first player. He is a play maker at heart, and that kind of mentality does not usually equal out to what we have seen him achieve. Boychuk is quickly becoming a name in the VHL and doing so without much praise.

So with that being said, we bring to you an exclusive interview with the player about the successes of his season right now.

Interviewer: First thing's first, how do you feel right now in the VHL being such a different game than you're used to?

Boychuk: It's definitely different. I have just been taking it game by game, one shift at a time. I am not trying to do anything fancy out there so far. I just want to produce in the ways I know that I can. It has been quite a ride.

--------------------------------------

Interviewer: You currently sit tied 7th in the VHL scoring race. This is something that nobody expected of you heading into your rookie season, especially with other high quality rookies out there. What do you have to say about that?

Boychuk: I am thrilled to be in the position that I am. I never thought I would be so far up in the race, but it is great for my image. One of my main goals in this league is to get noticed, and with my accomplishments so far I hope that everyone is watching. My number one concern though is my team, and we need to get better to put it bluntly.

--------------------------------------

Interviewer: Calgary has for sure gotten much better than last year. What do you think the team needs to go even further into becoming a threat?

Boychuk: As it stands right now, we need better defensive depth for the most part. Everybody on the team needs to chip in and break up plays. I have already seen that we can beat the good teams, but we just need to be consistent at it. If we can continue to grow and bring some more guys into this locker room then we could be well on our way to glory.

--------------------------------------

Interviewer: You have made great progress throughout your work and it looks to be happening quickly. Any comments on your routine?

Boychuk: I have been working extremely hard on my game. Day in and day out I am at the rink practicing whatever the coaches and I think I need to get better at. If I miss the net a few times in a game, I will work on my shooting at next practice. If I am losing face-offs, I work on that. It is a process I like to do and I think my skill can get to elite status for sure.

--------------------------------------

Interviewer: How do you like the city of Calgary? Recently you and the team were out having  a night on the town.

Boychuk: Yeah, I knew you would bring that up. Some of my decisions that night were not the greatest. Calgary is a fun place to be in. It is not as wild as some of the big cities, but my teammates and I find plenty to do. Everyone here is nice and seem to love hockey, so that is definitely a plus. I have not had any bad experiences.

Well there you have it. Travis Boychuk has been getting along quite well in Calgary and has been an amazing Calgary Wrangler so far. There has been nothing but praise by the fans and coaches alike, and it has been a great start to his VHL career. With beginning steps like these, there is no telling what lies in the future for this centerman.

812 words. I liked the spot. One thing I would like to see is maybe a different topic other than Boychuk and Calgary, but that's just a preference and not necessarily required. Obviously you won't get docked for it, but just to change things up. I liked that you had the content part and then the interview. You added two elements to this.

Grammar: 2/2

Just a couple
