Hello and good day to you all!

 

Today's episode is going to be a bit different and a bit shorter as well compared to the long, long expectations of the last few episodes I was able to produce in the past. This episode will be much shorter because let's face it... the big giant elephant in the room as soon as the production cameras got turned on. With that question being more "Where the hell were you Smitty?"

 

That is honestly such a great and legitimate question which is what I wanted to take today's episode to address. As where I was for what 6 weeks especially just getting the job. How on earth could the league allow me to keep this job after being gone for so long. Well, the first few weeks after my absence was I was dealing with a lot more extra family wonderful unexpected surprises that had me running around like a dog trying to deal with and fix. So, for those first couple of weeks I legitimately explained to the team what was going on and that I wanted to be able to put together better quality pieces so if I were to just whip something together. I would have hated what I put together and felt extremely embarrassed to be actually putting out what I felt was worse than an open bag of garbage sitting outside on the hottest day of summer.

 

So, for that.. I understand that you missed me then and then after those few weeks of life exhaustion as felt like I was being pulled by all sides of life. 

 

But Smitty.. that still leaves a month of a disappearance what the hell happened?

 

That is a lot easier to explain as then I had a laptop that I was running and doing everything in life with for myself as it was great to have that portability to be on the go. However, having a high end gaming laptop while they are pricey to buy. I will warn you, without warranty they are extremely pricey to fix. After I was feeling more up to doing an article I heard a really weird and strange noise that occurred in my laptop. Sounded like a really high pitch whine and then I shut it off thinking if anything it needs a new hard drive as I had this problem a few months earlier and that is how they fixed it.

 

Well... oh boy was I wrong. That laptop get to Geek Squad City (yes I bought it from Best Buy). Then after I dropped it off, it sat in their warehouse for a week before it was touched. Then after the week they started working on it so I started getting annoyed as it was taking so long to get this computer fixed. Normally they would have it back in my hands for a week. But, they finally just started examining it and one question when they called me was asking if I had accidental warranty. I'm thinking why would I need it for a bad hard drive. As now another week went by if I recall correctly before I got more news.

 

It wasn't.. as now I work from 5pm to 1am Eastern my sleep schedule also gets thrown into a cluster fuck where this one Friday they called me telling me it's going to cost me $2040 to repair my laptop. I'm thinking I paid like $1800 which the guy on the phone said so he was telling me not worth fixing. Just buy something new, so.. now thinking what happened, and in my mid-groggy state of mind I decided to ask. What happened why is it going to cost so much? 

 

They responded the mainboard needed to be replaced which it itself costs $1600 to replace it on this laptop. Then they said there was fire damage and the works. So I said, thank you and just decided to forget about it for a bit as I just woke up. I called back asking why would I need to pay $2000 since I got warranty and my warranty covered accidental and repairs. Why would I pay, you have a policy if things cost so much you replace the unit. 

 

Then after me demanding them to just replace it.. they decided to come back at me and they said "well we can now fix it.. it just takes time to get parts". This was now going into week 4 of no computer so I simply just asked them to escalate the issue as how can someone tell me it would costs $2000 if I had to pay but for the company its much cheaper. Especially with a mini fire inside the computer. Anyone who knows fire knows, you don't mix that and electronics without a true comb over. If anything happened once I got my computer it would be back as soon as I could get it. 

 

So, with no one willing to just allow me to replace my laptop under warranty so I could buy something new. I decided enough is enough and went and politely caused a scene. When you work in customer service you know exactly which buttons to press while keeping things professional and never talking about the person in question. If you do this, attack the policy and the store. Use their own policies against them. So I did,  I politely explained to the manager how could Best Buy ever give someone a product back they know full well had a fire in it being an electronic device, without replacing all the wires and components. Smoke damage is bad for electronics. Then, I decided to even include the fact they told me the laptop repair would cost so much to replace. Why not just replace it and be done with it. This driving me crazy lets just end this as I got to get something shiny and new anyways. Let's just do it now and keep all parties happy.

 

That was a Wednesday and they had to get the computer back before they could do anything about replacing it under warranty which they were quick about doing. So here I am now, after getting this new computer setup all nice and working. Back in business.. ready to start the continuation of A Sit with Tit, with the wonderful prospects in this upcoming draft.

So before I let you go.. remember this one tip when it comes to any league job, draft prospect status, etc.. it's better to admit something is wrong and out of your control and you need time to get it fixed instead of just ghosting on your team and league jobs. I may have annoyed my team mates and those within the VHSC about this. But I though they had the right to know so they could make a decision about what is next. I appreciate them reading my rants in our discord rooms and the works. I appreciate everyone reading and taking this long.
