Draft day. Excitement. Intrigue. Other adjectives. It's a time that can shape a franchise's future for good or bad. Second-guessing selections, getting steals at the late picks. It's all a part of the game.

For the London United, they shook up the draft days in advance by trading down from the 3rd overall choice to pick up two later first round choices. For a team with many holes to fill, it probably is a smart move, but it is always impossible to evaluate until a handful of seasons later.

If London can manage to grab a few players who continue to develop as projected and can slot into the opening day lineup for season 75, then it has to be considered a win.

In a draft with as much depth at forward as this one has, it's a 100% guarantee that the United add at least one forward to the mix in round one. The franchise does have two young centers to bolster the middle spine for years to come in Jay Jones and Alex Volchenkov. Along with the centers, there are a pair of young right wingers in The Terrible Trivium and Keith Krestanovich, who should be mainstays for many years. So is left wing the target up front? Only time will tell.
