Benny Graves named DC Dragons Captain

Recommended Posts

Washington, DC.

As the Season 73 concluded, the DC Dragons lost one of their most beloved franchise players in captain Mikko Aaltonen. Many speculation has been made over the past off-season as to who would be his predecessor. Whether it would go vacant for a while until someone took the reigns, or if GM Eno Rama would name a new captain. Well, on Friday night the GM announced in an internal statement that former Assistant Captain Benny Graves would be getting promoted to the Captain spot. The DC Dragon franchise centerman was drafted 2nd Overall in the S69 Draft, and soon after he signed a lifetime deal with the expansion team. During his time with the Dragons he has become a showcase talent and developed into an elite VHL talent. He has made his mark on the Dragons History books becoming the leader in Franchise Hits, and also projects to become the leader in points, goals, and game winning goals.

"I'm very proud to represent the DC Dragons, and put this jersey on every night. We have a great team and our goal is to win a championship in the VHL. That goal becomes harder and harder every day, but that is what we all have our eye on. We want to bring this franchise its first cup; that would be very special. I am very grateful to be named a leader on this team, I know I will continue to do everything in my power to give our team the greatest chance to win."

review: A nice article read, going over the obvious sadness that comes when a captain moves on, whether it be retiring or moving to another team, it's felt in the locker room. We get to see the pride your player has for being named the next captain, that he wants to make the team proud. Spelling is all good from what I can tell and spacing out the quote from the rest was a good call. The only thing I think worth adding would have been a picture of a player with a C on his jersey, otherwise 9/10.
