The rookie Luke Thornton, who fell from being the number 1 ranked prospect to the 11th pick for the Calgary Wranglers, is coming into the season with only one goal in mind: Help the team compete for the VHL cup in his very first season. Exactly what he almost acomplished in the VHLM with the Miami Marauders as a key forward in the playoff.

He was quite sad seeing his name fall down in draft so much, but he is extremely happy to call Calgary his new home. He is learning extremely a lot from some of the very best VHL players in the 4 time champion Scott Greene, all star forward RJ Jubis and the franchise player in Edwin THE Encarnacion. It's quite amazing to play in front of Jacques Lafontaine too, one of the best young goalie in the VHL.  He's also very happy to face his cousin Onde Sandstrom during the season even though he is struggling right now, but his team is undefeated.

Luke Thornton is starting the season with 8 points in 11 games, which 6 of those are assist and he's already showing his incredible playmaking ability on the ice. Thornton was not known as a very physical player during the VHLM, but now he's top 5 in hits in the VHL after gaining pounds of muscle during the off-season. If this continues, he's poised to be near PPG and top 3 in hits in his very first VHL season and that could have a shot for ROTY, but this young future star in Calgary does not care about individual awards. He only wants team succes...

The Calgary Wranglers are not off to a hot start like Vancouver, but they know things will only get better for us during the season which is very good news for Luke Thornton on his already decent start in the season.
