Gucci, Vegas Race Into First

Chicago, IL

With only weeks remaining in the seventy-fourth year of the VHLM, Las Vegas made quick work of recent opponents (most recently Minnesota and Houston) to have won seven of their last eight.  In doing so, Vegas moved into first place in their conference with what is currently a four point lead over Saskatoon.  "Complete team effort the last few weeks.  We have been on top of our game.  VERY detail-oriented play in our opponents' zone.  I could not be happier with how cohesive our young players have become recently," general manager Spartan explained to a few members of the media last night.  With a gorgeous 103 goal differential and the most goals in the entire league, the Aces can build upon this momentum as the next few games will prove to be a true test.  "We have Halifax and Ottawa to deal with this week, so we are going to keep our heads down and continue our ways," Spartan finished.

Not one to fall behind, Gucci has kept up his production into the third quarter of the season, totaling 31 points (4/27/31), with a plus 32 rating and 72 hits.  "I've really been trying to focus on my overall game, but the elephant in the room is that I have to start finding the net more often.  A shot percentage around 5 isn't going to place fear into any defenseman when I go for a shot.  Outside of that, I really can't complain how our line has played," Gucci's remarks to a few fans after practice on Friday.
