Javad Kamkar is an 18 year old Offensive Defenseman from Iran playing for the Halifax 21st. Standing at 6 feet and 5 inches tall and weighting 185 pounds, Kamkar uses his large frame to his advantage, hitting his opponents with vicious body checks and knocking them off balance easily. He is projected to be the 23rd pick in the S76 VHL draft. Javad has 4 years of junior experience under his belt in Iran, and it's worked in his favour.

Strengths

Defensive IQ: Kamkar's defensive IQ is very good for how young he is. He understands proper defensive positioning and when to block passing lanes and help regain possession for his team. He can seemingly come out of nowhere and steal the puck from the opponent before they even realize that he's taken off with it.

Power: Javad is considered underweight for his height, but his strength is surprisingly high, able to bully the opposition away from the puck via hard and vicious body checks and knock them down with relative ease, even those close to his size. This is also to his benefit offensively, as the opposition will have a hard time knocking him away from the puck, some even fall down while trying to check him. He was often referred to as a "Wall made of titanium" because of his sheer strength.

Playmaking: Javad's main value is in how versatile he can be, he can defend well and he can also attack well. A major part of his attacking skill comes from his superb playmaking ability, able to set up his teammates for easy goals from long distances with precision. His playmaking only gets better and better as the days go on. Even so, he's been having trouble racking up the assists because of one of his biggest weaknesses.

Weaknesses

Bad shot selection: Linked to his difficulty of earning assists, Kamkar tends to take bad shots from bad angles instead of passing the puck, resulting in wasted opportunities to score. This is the sole reason his Offensive IQ is lacking compared to his Defensive IQ, he wastes a lot of opportunities on offense with the puck by taking unnecessary shots instead of using his playmaking abilities.

Discipline: The downside to Javad's ability to hit hard is his discipline. He will often get penalties for interference due to not being able to stop chasing his man after the puck has been passed away. This leads to the opposition earning too many Power Play opportunities, which is detrimental to the success of his team.

Emotions: Kamkar has a record of getting into trouble because of not being able to keep his emotions in check. Often protesting against Referee calls and being provoked easily after successful body checks against him, leading to unneeded fights and penalties. If this isn't fixed until the draft, it's unlikely any team would take the risk of his emotional outbursts for his skill on the ice.
