Jivere Zolnek Prospect Scouting Report

VHLm player Jivere Zolnek will be a part of the S76 VHL draft and will hopefully hear his name called way before where it was called in the VHLm draft. He was drafted 78th overall in the VHLm draft to the Philadelphia Reapers and has not made much of an impact however we can still develop a report that evaluates his strengths and weaknesses. Through 35 games he has just one point which was an assist -- one of his weaknesses. Let's dive into his strengths and weaknesses to learn what this 6'3" Center out of the USA can add to a VHL team in the future.

Strengths:

Skating: You have to be able to move to get open and to make an impact and if there is one thing Zolnek can do it is to move and get open. This leads to his ability to get into important areas of the ice quickly and if his brain can work together with his speed it can create a massive advantage for him.

Defense: Jivere Zolnek originally was a defenseman prior to the VHLm and his ability as a pure defender carried over. His move from that position mainly stemmed from a lack of discipline and not necessarily his defensive ability. Zolnek has amazing vision and coupled with his skating ability he can make up for mistakes that his teammates can make. It will be expected for him to be able to be a shutdown Center in the VHLm in due time

Scoring: He is a pure scorer, and it is as simple as it gets. With amazing skating ability and defending this is one other ability that perfectly compliments the way that he plays. A reason for him becoming a forward is his accuracy in his shot. Prior to his growth spurt, Zolnek was purely an accuracy scorer however now he can fire them past the goalies. I expect his shot to start making an impact in the VHLm soon and I expect him to be a plus scorer in the major league.

Weaknesses

Discipline: This goes along with his defending really. Zolnek has trouble forcing himself into a position and relies mainly on his natural ability. This discipline does not relate to the penalty box but it relates to him playing within his own game. Hero ball could be an issue in the future, but as of now he seems to have quelled those concerns in the VHLm.

Checking: Despite his large 6'3" 213 pound frame, Zolnek has difficulty forcing people off of the puck. Hitting is not his expertise and you should not expect him to be a physical player.

Passing: He hates passing, and he cannot be someone who is expected to set others up. His passing extends from when he gets the puck from the other team to give to a teammate to eventually get it back to him. Do not expect him to get many assists and expect him to make some errant passes at nearly all points.
