CALGARY - Jacques Lafontaine may be the starting goaltender for the Victory Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers right now but a new star is emerging in their rookie goaltender, Vsevolod Askarov, who has been stellar in his performances so far. The young goaltender has gone without a regulation loss in all of his 5 games. 4 of those 5 games were wins. Vsevolod Askarov also has a 0.913 save percentage and a 2.19 GAA. Nothing short of amazing.

“Yeah, wow. What can I say? It’s amazing how fast he’s adapted to the VHL pace. The guy works hard everyday and if I don’t watch my back, I’ll probably end up on the bench.” Jacques remarked with a laugh. “In all seriousness though, he has a bright future ahead of him and I can’t wait to see how far he’ll go. Asky (Askarov) is a great guy and a great player and it’s an honour to have him on the team. It’s not everyday you see a player this special and I think I speak for everybody when I say he’s an integral part of our team.”
