Pistil had a solid VHLM career. He averaged one point per game in his 1.25 seasons in the minor leagues. He demonstrated his ability to find the back of the next, scoring on over 12.5% of his shots. His sensational +/- rating speaks to his ability to play a complete game in the offensive and defensive zones, helping the team to victory.

Pros

Physical Ability – Pistil’s physical attributes are undeniable. He is 212 pounds of all muscle. This gives him impressively past skating speed despite having what some may call an ugly stride. His core strength gives him impressive balance, making him hard to knock off the puck. His strength also gives him a fast shot while his impressive reaction time and quick hands give him such a quick release that goalies will find it tough to stop his shots for a long time.

Cold Blood – Becoming a superstar means you need to have ice in your veins. You need to step up in the big moments and not shy away from the spotlight. Pistil has shown that he can rise to the occasion by scoring 20% of his goals as game winners. Add to that his point per game average in the S74 playoffs and you can see that he can stay cool under pressure. Growing up in the Amazon Rainforest, surrounded by nature that can kill you at any moment.

Shooting Ability – Of all the hockey skills, shooting is Pistil’s strongest. He may not have had ice growing up. But he had a stick and he practiced every day. His ability to hit all parts of the net with great accuracy is second to none. He also has a quick, strong release.

Cons

Hockey IQ – Growing up in Brazil, Pistil didn’t have access to ice, much less a team with good coaching. This means he lacks hockey knowledge. There are times when he finds himself out of place the ice because of a lack of recognition of the situation on the ice. He has difficulty following the flow of the game while on the ice which can lead to him to be a step or two behind his teammates. He may not be a great performer on special teams because of this lack of knowledge and experience.

Skating Ability – Pistil can be a strong skater, but due to his lack of natural skating talent, he struggles with maintaining that speed and power through turns or changes in direction. He has worked to improve his skating performance with the assistance of the top-level coaching available in North America. His recent improvement gives hope that this con may turn into a strength.

Final Thoughts

Pistil Stamen is an intriguing prospect thanks to his raw talent, but juxtaposing that against raw experience makes it difficult to predict his performance in the pros. His ceiling is high, but his floor is low. Only time will tell how he turns out.
