After the four game sweep of the Yukon Rush, we were able once again to sit down with the very busy Robert Bouchard as the Philadelphia Reapers get set to host the second round play-off match up against the San Diego Marlins as we continue the series of #AsktheBouch.

With a four game sweep of Yukon Rush, did you expect that series to end as quickly as it did?

RB:  No, way did we expect that series to end so quickly. We managed to get some great goaltending from Carson and our new third line had some huge games over the four games to actually carry the team through the first round.

How do you feel that you played in the first round against the Rush?

RB: I actually wasn’t that impressed with my game as they managed to shut me down for most of the series. I had one good game where I collected I think three points but other then that I had only single points in two of the other three games. We collected the wins but as an offensive forward on this team I am expected to carry more of the load. While on paper it looked like I had a good series with five points in four games; I wasn’t my best during the series.

Is it concerning that you don’t feel that you are playing your best at the moment?

RB: Of course!! While the team has great depth and we have success so far due to the depth of the roster at some point the team needs to lean on the point producing players like myself, Addison and Walker as three of the examples. I know I didn’t have a good series and I think Walker isn’t happy either so if we don’t carry more of the load we could easily let the rest of the team down and cost us a few game or even a series; if we aren’t playing our best.

Do you think that there could be anything done differently to get the top two lines going in the next series against the Marlins?

RB: I am not the coach and I am not the general manager so I am not responsible for all the other players but when you look at the other teams like Marlins, Halifax and Mexico; they are playing their top players a lot more then our top lines are getting played. I am not sure if this makes a huge difference but the difference in ice time between their top players and ours is a good 5mins over a course of a game. This means they are getting more looks and opportunities to make a difference. Look no further then the top score two scorers in the VHLM in the regular season and even now in the play-offs; they both have played more then 30mins game.

At the end of the day I need to be more effective with the ice time that I am getting  and let the managers handle the ice time but it hard not to notice the difference of ice time compared to other players around the league.

This has been a longer then normal question session so one more question and we will wrap this session up; what do you expect from the series against the Marlins?

RB: I am expecting a tough series, which will go back and forth. It will come down to the little things in the games and I am going to say that the first team to lose two games in a row is going to have their backs against it. They are a good team so we are going to have to bring our A game every night.

The series is expected to continue as we continue to follow the progress of Robert Bouchard and his Philadelphia Reapers as the progress in the VHLM play-offs in #AsktheBouch.
