Running Out of Time - Jacques Lafontaine

CALGARY - Jacques Lafontaine is slowly getting older and older. Even though he is still relatively young, the ripe age of 23, which is young enough that he would still be eligible for the Calder if he immediately transitioned in the NHL, he is almost finished his maximum season count in the Victory Hockey League as he has just finished his sixth season and is entering his seventh season. This will be his second-last season in the VHL. We decided to ask him about his thoughts on that and his thoughts on the future.

 

“Yeah, time flies by so fast. Seems like yesterday I was a rookie trying to prove that I was worthy of getting the starting goalie position. Looking back, I’ve made many memories in the seven seasons I’ve been in the Victory Hockey League system, including my one season in the VHLM. Making history with Saskatoon, then playing alongside many teammates on the Calgary Wranglers, I have no regrets. Both clubs have been amazing for me and I’ve made many friends both on my team and in other teams, like Spyro and Hextall. Those guys are amazing and it’s been an honour playing with them. Sigard Gunnar was one of my best friends and closest teammates, and Vsevolod Askarov is gonna be insane in the future. I know I still have a lot of story to write but it looks like my VHL chapter is coming to a close. And I have no regrets. Other than a Continental Cup.”

our time, for the 3 of us is coming to and end like you said, Spyro this coming season then you and me the next season. It really has been a blast and I'm glad we've all stayed with our Canadian teams so far, lets make the last one with the three of us count!!
