Greg_Di 1,028
Draft day…one of the most exciting days for young players in the VHL. Later tonight all of the s76 draft prospects will know where they will be playing next season. It’s always a big deal for the players and the whole league. One player that is excited for the upcoming draft is Tom Eagles. Many mock drafts have him going between the 3-5 picks which will make Tom the highest ever drafted Eagles. The question now is where will he go? “ I had a few conversations with 3 teams that have top 5 picks, out of all those conversations I think I have a pretty good idea where I will be going” Said Tom “ I won’t say anything to the media yet as anything can happen but I am excited at the prospect of going to this team” With Tom holding his cards close to his chest regarding pre-draft conversations, we can only speculate on what teams may take him. With the top 2 picks seemingly locked we can rule out New York and Prague from going after Tom unless something drastic happens leading up to the draft. This leaves the next 3 teams Calgary, LA and Toronto. From this we know that Tom will definitely be playing in the North American league and 66% chance that it will be in Canada. Tom’s Father, Greg, also started out his VHL career in Canada as he was drafted by the Vancouver Wolves. “ I was born in Europe but I would definitely prefer to play in North America and my chances of that are very good “ Said Tom “ The 3 teams that fall in the spots that I think I will go are all very good and it would be great playing for any of those teams. No matter what team selects me they can expect me to bring 100% from the start and doing whatever I can to help them win some games and hopefully the cup” Out of these 3 teams, the only team that made the playoffs last season was Calgary. Calgary is looking to make another playoff push while LA and Toronto are still in the rebuilding stage and should compete within the next 2-3 seasons. The question is what does each team need and want for their teams future. Tom can provide immediate help on a 2nd pairing line right away for any of these teams but the question remains is do any of these teams want to give that sort of shot and responsibility to a rookie fresh out of the VHLM. Most scouting reports say that Tom is ready for full VHL playing time now. He has the right skills, maturity and mentality to help out right now. It will be an interesting draft as this will be one of the deepest drafts in recent memory. Many high skilled players are available and anything can happen on draft night. “It’s an exciting time and I can’t wait for the draft to start “ Said Tom “ I haven’t been able to sleep at all last night just with excitement and anticipation. I can’t wait to hear my name called…walk up and put on a VHL jersey” ThePerfectNut, Lilith_Lunar, bigAL and 3 others 3 1 1 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/97959-draft-night/ Share on other sites
