Friday, January 15, 2021, will be a day to remember in the VHL career of Lenny Sanderson. The young player had one of the hardest and anxious yet exciting and rewarding nights of his life. The night started off with a draft interview with a VHL reporter, with a successful back and forth about Sanderson's present and future in the league. It was good preparation for the more abundant interviews he would receive in the VHL.

He then suited up to play the gold medal game at the S75 World Juniors. Sanderson had done pretty well for a rookie at the tournament, notching 3 goals and 6 points in the round robin 8 games. But in the two playoff games he played, he showed some classic elimination clutch, scoring 2 goals in 2 games and helping Team World get revenge on Team Europe from last season and capture the coveted WJC championship.

From there, it was right back to the draft. Sanderson changed into a suit and prepared for the nerve-wracking tension that is draft day. Sanderson sat through the whole first round, nervously squirming in his seat before the Los Angeles Stars called his name with the second pick of the second round. Sanderson was ecstatic as he pulled on the black and white jersey, the jersey of a team that he might represent his entire VHL career.
