Whitehorse , Yukon –WhitehorseToday.ca Local News announced today announced that top S76 VHL Draft prospect Abe “Abby Roque” of the Yukon Rush is the VHLM ‘Burger King On the Run ’ Player of the Week for the playoff week ending Jan 24th after recording Fifteen points in only six games including a mind blowing 10  goals and 5 assists with a plus-minus rating of plus 10.

Roque extended her point-streak to four and helped the win three back-to-back games over Saskatoon in the Eastern Conference. Last week she was in Prague on the ice with some of the VHL’s best skating with SS Hornet @mcwolf a player Abby really looks up to. She picked up 2 Goals and an assist in the Yukon’s Game 1 contest won 6-3 by the Colts along with 1^st Star honors in her first game in a Rush uniform, then scored a goal and an assist to match in Monday’s blowout 9-1 victory in Game 2. She also scored three times in Game 3 marking what is the first of many VHLM Hat-tricks.  

A 23-year-old from Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, Roque is playing in her first full VHLM season after being selected 6th by the Yukon Rush in the S76 VHL Draft.  She is currently leading the league in Goals scoring 10 goals in her first six games with a game at hand over 2^nd place for league in Goals. As well as a leading the rush in rookie scoring with and 5 assists for 15 points in still just six games. This hot start is no surprise to anyone that saw Roque play in those two games for MISS She can score, she proved enough eyes and was ranked a unanimous first rounder by VSN Central Scouting in their Final Draft list for the S76 VHL Draft.

 

Also considered for the award this week was the 2^nd highest pick in the most recent VHL draft to be playing in the VHLM. Prospect of the London United and currently playing for the Halifax 21^st in the VHLM with eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 8 games to start the season, and VHLM Veteran Thomas King of the Philadelphia Reapers a former 6^th round draft pick of the Prague Phantoms with his own nine goals along with 11 assists totaling 20 points in the Reapers first 9 games of the S76 Season. In goal, absolute steal of a draft pick in the VHL Draft by the D.C Dragons of The Miami Marauders has one 3 wins and two overtime losses and one loss in regulation. In 6 games ClapbombRus only allowing 16 goals in 6 games played to  date for a league leading in both goals-against-average of 2.59 and save percentage of .911.

 

Abe wanted to publicly recognize the amazing play of her teammates and the intensity being put forth every game on the ice ! Schmidty is too hot to handle and proving you have what it takes to be a star in amongst the best, Gruber is just… Gruber , hes the team prankster , but his skill makes up for all of his hilarities , to be honest I love his humour and Grubes has definitely been the most welcoming since joining! Gaspar Zakresvsky SHOW was on display in game two against the Wild along with Grubes and Olof all notching four points each. Our Power Play has been lethal, and obviously cant forget Matthew A Sovick jr and his play in net , starting all of our games so far and after the most recent games played Sovick Jr has a record of 6 wins and 2 losses with a save percentage of 0.901 along with a goals against average of 2.75.

Great Article about Yukon. It was an interesting read but I would do a couple few adjustments. The white background (when in dark mode atleast) made it hard to read as the white was overwhelming. I would also break up the very long first paragraph to make it easier to read. Other then that it was very detailed and provided some great insight.
