Da_Berr 219
It's been a long offseason, and now the regular season has finally started! With that, it is time to make way too early award predictions. I have so far boasted an impressive 0% guess rate in 3 seasons, and I will probably continue that statline this season. Now, without further ado, here are my predictions for each award this season. Mike Szatkowski Trophy (Most Points) - Andrew Su Now I may be biased for this award, but Su does have a very good chance of taking home the award this season. Him missing out on the award last season by 1 point has left him hungry, and he'll be gunning for the trophy this season. Su is also still in the prime of his career, and I'd argue that VAN has one of the best offences this season. Perfect to help Su claim this award. He's gotten off to a good start this season, with 24 points in 11 games. Scotty Campbell Trophy (MVP) - Ola Vikingstad MVP will be an extremely competitive rave this season, just like previous ones. Although the points leader usually gets a lot of votes, unless if they have more points by a landslide, a more 2-way player usually wins. I also don't like the idea of giving goalie MVP as they have their own award categories. Vikingstad has not only gotten a blazing start in terms of points (1st in the league), but he has historically been a solid 2-way player, racking over 200 hits in the past 3 seasons. HSK also has a good chance of making it to the playoffs, unlike TOR with Merrick last season. Brett Slobodzian Trophy (Most Outstanding) - Andrew Su or Ola Vikingstad This is the same as the MVP trophy. Unless Su is able to get the most points by a landslide, a high scoring more 2-way player will win this award. Kevin Brooks Trophy (Most Goals) - Kyl Oferson Although there are plenty of other players that could easily grab the award, I think Oferson has the highest chance of doing so. Not only has he been leading the league in goals so far, but he has also proven in the past that his goal-scoring ability is no joke. Despite having a rough goal-scoring year last season, he seems to have bounced back this year. In previous seasons he has also scored totals of 47 and 42 goals. CHI also has a solid support system and players for him to bring home this award. Alexander Beketov Trophy (Most Assists) - Micah Adrienne or Cinnamon Block I picked Adrienne here due to him entering his prime. Not only is he on a VAN team that's packed full of weapons on offence, but he's been steadily improving each year. This season could be his breakout year, and he could surprise a lot of people. Block is actually my second choice here, as he's in the twilight of his career. Despite this being his last season he's on pace to have his best season so far in his career. Rhynex Entertainment 487
Good read! Definitely possible outcomes and could have been helpful for fantasy selections. Easy to read with good use of bold. Could add tags and also runner-up predictions. 8.5/10 Edited January 25, 2021 by Rhynex Entertainment typos Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/98684-s76-award-predictions-12/#findComment-818709 Share on other sites
