Chicago clinches first place in North American Conference

Recommended Posts

With today’s games, the Chicago Phoenix have officially clinched the number one seed in the North American Conference.  Despite two recent losses to the Los Angeles Stars, this achievement is largely the result of a big shift in performance in the second part of the season, in large part thanks to the acquisition of forward Robin Winter from Davos.  It’s a far cry from the team’s regular season performance last season, in which they finished fifth in the conference and played in the wild card round.  Chicago proceeded to go on a surprise playoff run that season, making it all the way to the conference finals before falling in seven games to DC.  The Phoenix went into Season 76 looking to prove that their run in S75 wasn’t a fluke, and in regular season terms they’ve been successful.  The acquisition of Winter during the season, along with the offseason additions of Kyl Oferson and Lucas Brandt have proven to be key in taking the team to the next level, along with the continued development of their young core.  But of course, the true test is yet to come.  Now, with a shorter path, can the Phoenix go further than they did last season?  Only time will tell.
