1. Welcome to the Steel and the Junior Showcase Tournament! How pumped is your player to start? Very! I feel Tord didn't really show of his defensive qualities in the short time he got in the VHLM before the season ended and this will be the perfect opportunity for Tord to do that. 2. We have a lot of fresh talent in the tournament. How close do you think the games will be in terms of scoring? I Believe it will be high scoring high paced hockey, Open roads for both teams. I'm glad Tord isn't a goalie in this tournament. 3. There are players you've scored or defended against on your team! Any rivals or friends amongst them? Not yet, Altough Legacy Gaming really got on my nerves in our playoff matchup. Impossible to defend against his wicked wrister. 4. How has your experience been in the league so far? Very good, IHad a short stint a few years ago but i fluttered out, This time around i'm more interested in making it work. Since i'm a family guy now i don't have much time just for myself but this game doesn't take forever to do, You can do it whenever there's time and i can sit and just get lost in the game sheets or a graphic for awhile. And i get to practice my written English wish is rusty AF. 5. Coke or Pepsi? A Closer look at Houston Bulls Versus Mississauga Hounds Hello and welcome to this week’s around the VHLM. This week I'm going to focus on a first round playoff matchup that could see the winners take home the trophy. Whether it's the Houston Bulls led by their goal-scoring machine Legacy Gaming or the Misissauga Hounds with their puckmoving monster Big B These two teams are going hard at it and to see such a battle in the first round is joy to fans and experts alike. With the Bulls up 3-1 in games we’ll take a look at one player one each team i believe is crucial for their teams continued success Legacy Gaming (@Gamin Ringleader) Legacy is purely driven by offense as his numbers will show you. A pure goalscorer some say, A generational playmaker others howl. But the truth is probably somewhere in between. In the modern day of VHL and VHLM you can't be one dimensional, you gotta have a bunch of elite qualities if you wanna play with the best teams in the world. And let me tell you: Legacy is well on his way in his development. With 5 goals and 6 apples he combines for 11 points in just 4(!) games, Let me repeat that for you FOUR GAMES! I know what you are thinking “how hard can it be when you post up at the gr8-Position on PP1?” What if I tell you: Only 2 of his points have come on the powerplay! If the Bulls are gonna take home this series Legacy needs to stay red hot. With a 27+ shooting percentage that might not be the case,Even though we are talking about an elite shooter, It’s surely bound to drop down to a more sustainable level. But if he can keep it up he might become the most prolific scorer to ever suit up for the bulls. The Bulls are lucky to have him and would be miles away from the title without him. Big B (@BigB33) This Malmö Blackhawks draftee is a type of defender every team that wants to contend for a championship must have. Strong and firm yet he possesses that high end agility that more muscle oriented players so often lack. And just like Legacy, Big understands the game on another level. Big B will judge the situation correctly almost every time. No shot on the shin pads with this guy. I’m not saying that he’s a bad shooter but it's his passing who sticks out the most in his offensive toolbox. With 4 Assists in 4 games he leads the team in assists and is only second behind Hannibal Barca(5points) in total points. Maybe he lacks the points that legacy are putting up but boy, oh boy does he do some heavy lifting on the defensive side of the rink with 9 blocked shots and 15 hits. Since zero of his 4 points come on the powerplay that’s where he needs to find a way to be more involved. Mississauga hounds Powerplay has a nice 26 percent success rate and if The Hounds want to keep that number up Big B must be a bigger part of that. Personally I believe he will. Big is just to good to not figure it out. If he can produce more points on the powerplay he’s got a good chance to be the best defenceman in the whole VHLME and maybe one day VHL. I don’t know much about Malmö Redhawks as i am a reporter of the VHLM, but i know they have a bright future with up and coming Big B on the backend. 1. Are you excited for the playoffs? Hell Yes! Although the first two games haven't been our strongest outings, I believe in our squad to make some noise. 2. 1. Whats your time favourite movie? Maybe not my Absolute favorite, But i recently watched Brother Bear with my kids. And I love that movie! 2. Tord Yvel… Who is this 22 year old just joining the Mississauga Hounds? To answer that, I have translated this open letter from Tord found in the Swedish Sports Paper “En Timma Spååt. Enjoy! Hello. My name is Tord Yvel. I'm just a normal kid from Southern parts of Sweden. Never met my mom. Or I have met her I suppose. But I was way too young to have any memories of her. Dad never talked ill about her even though it couldn’t have been easy raising me alone. Where mom went? I’m not really sure since dad won't talk about that. But the talk of the town suggests that she ran off with the guy who invented knobs. My father was Ost Yvel and for as long as I can remember we went to the local hockey games together. Although he didn't play the game himself, he understood the players like few others(In my opinion) . What makes a player good? What is that player's weakness? “If he can tweak that he might have a shot at the big leagues”. SInce i started hockey as a wee child I have followed his advice to the letter. He preached defense, defense, defense!! So that's the player I am today, A Defensive defender with a knack for finding open teammates. Not particularly speedy but I know that's where I have to put in a lot of work, I’m not big enough to get by smashing people against the board. Dad always said I have to get faster, More aware with the stick. Not to get physical, be smart instead. He was my Mentor until he suddenly got beamed up by aliens on a cold winter morning. That was traumatic for Me, and I do not like to talk about it. Never ask me about my fathers sudden abduction!. Never!I Or i will politely but firmly ask you to leave. Before that life changing event I had never really thought for myself. My dad always had the what-to-do’s ready for me. “that team has the best coach and hats so that's where you are playing this year”. His advice has taken me through some teams and cities. 2006-2008 Malmö Mighty Otters This is where I started my hockey experience.A peewee team located in the outskirts of the city. Old rink that smelled like rotten bananas and sweat. Even though the facilities were bad as hell, the feeling of being a community was stronger than the rink was bad. I still know and talk to the guys who I played with on that team. We were really bad and I can't really tell anything about those seasons without embarrassing myself. But good times were had. 2008-2009 Halmstad Hamsters This was a hard time for me as a person. I left the close knitted club of Mighty Otters and didn’t mesh well at all with this new environment. But I learned alot about how to play and about life in general. Especially from their famous physiologist “Pudding”. 2009-2012 Eslövs GodisKungar™ Just thinking about this time gives me goosebumps. I loved my time here in the lovely city of Eslöv. Some may try to convince you that Eslöv is a little white-trash town with nothing to do but let me tell you, There are plenty of hockey to be experienced in this town. How about the legend Tuffe-Uffe Brölin in charge of all the junior operations? Not impressed? Peter Forsberg’s sister's brother-in-law drives the zamboni! Knut Andersson(Or as he was called in his hay days “Knut SlagskottsKingen”) had on-ice training with us juniors. This place is basically what made me the hockey player I am today. 2012-2020 Malmö NightHawks Program for talented youth As I was playing in Eslöv some suits from the BIG club came and talked to me. They said that they had talked with some personnel in the Eslöv organization and had heard great stuff about me and my game. They offered me a try-out for their junior development program. As a big fan all my life and even in generations before me I couldn't say no. I got the chance of a lifetime and my dad told me to take it! This place refined me and teached me how to be a pro. This is a lifelong fandom and without this organization I wouldn't be where I am today. After 2020 I was lost. My dad had just disappeared and I had to stand on my own two feet. The last few years have been really dark and i won't go into details about it. Let's just say I did a lot of stuff I'm not proud of. That I'm ashamed to even think about. A time in my life I consider to be behind me. A new chapter is about to be written. The fine folks at Mississauga Hounds have found it in their hearts to give me a second chance at life and to pursue my dream! For that I will always be grateful. To new beginnings! Cheers /Tord Yvel
