    Ben Green

Ben Green Signs with the Ottawa Lynx for 1,000,000! @Kendrick@Frank
  2. I chose to become a Left Wing because I’d like to score. Scoring is a visual representation of your mark on an individual game. Sure defense and protecting the net are more effective ways to win a game, but hey, the best defense is a great offense right? You could have a terrible game. Fifty five minutes of pure garbage ice time. Then all of a sudden in a 1-1 game you drill one into the back of the net just out of reach of the goalies mit and boom, you’re the first star. There aren’t many feelings on the ice compared to scoring a clutch goal. A bone crushing check, a great beating given to an opponent, a clutch save in the closing minutes, these are all great feelings handed out by the game of hockey. However, the team that scores the most goals at the end of the game, that’s the team that walks out victorious. You can have a great night tending the goal, and then give up a couple of unlucky goals, and all the stat sheet says is that you’re a loser. Have a bad night and then knock in a couple of shots? Well, you get the picture by now. Scoring wins games! That’s why I want to come in as a wing!
  3. What will become of upcoming VHLM player Ben Green. Some say he has the potential to really make a difference on a lot of teams throughout the minors, but the question is just how high is his ceiling? In a recent interview with Ben Green himself, he was quoted saying “ The goal for my career is simple, win a title in the VHL.” It sounds like Ben Green has unselfish ambitions. Where most might have goals that bring glory to the individual, the young Green has goals in mind that will echo in history longer than a simple player of the year award could. Sure, Green would love to be a stand out player. Perennial all-star is probably on the young players mind, but the first thing that comes to mind is victory. TEAM VICTORY. It is clear that his unselfish attitude is one to be envied by a lot of guys, but Green has a lot of work to put in before he can even think about a roster spot in the VHL, much less a title. At this point in his career Green is below average in almost every aspect of the game. One place he’s not, heart. He has the heart of a champion, and the will power to develop with the proper coaching to become one of the best players in the leagues future. Potential with his goal scoring is through the roof. He can be seen on the ice practicing his approach and one timers three-hundred and sixty-five days a year. This kid never quits on himself. While playing for the Triad Sharks, a travel hockey team in the Carolina’s, Green was able to be the most prolific goal scorer in club history. Sure, the Carolina’s are not necessarily known for producing elite talent in the sport, but Green shattered the local records for goal scoring and has been noted as a great skater. All this being said, he definitely has a lot of work to do in his weaknesses. He struggles to get back on defense after aggressive scoring opportunities. Along with that he’s not necessarily a tough guy at this point in his career, as he tends to get pushed around a lot while he’s out on the ice. When he is defending, the opposing defenders tend to get better looks at the net while he attempts to stay in front of them. This is definitely something he’ll have to work on if he plans on having any sort of career past the VHLM. His passing is sub-par, and only makes up for this as being someone who finishes rather than creates. Without his finishing skills it could probably be said that he would likely not have gotten even this far in his career. The one thing that takes away from all of his cons? Potential. Loads of potential. As mentioned before, he spends hours daily on the ice improving. This will no doubt increase his ability with the puck, as well as his passing and skating abilities, while at the same time increasing his scoring ability to points he probably never imagined possible. This potential is what makes Ben Green a standout Blue Chip prospect as he embarks on the next stage of his journey, the VHLM.
  4. Hey everybody. I, like many others it seems, was lead here from another sim league. 7Sins (not sure if he has the same username here) told me it was a sweet site and that I should check it out! From what I can tell so far he was right! Excited to get started and have some fun with it. I'm currently living in NC and a fan of the Hurricanes in the NHL (I know they are closer to a minor league team as of late, but hey, 2006!) Any other questions I'm open to answering!
