NY Americans defenseman Guntis Gavilrovs just finished a fantastic 72 game season that saw him tied for #1 in points by a defenseman going into the last sim to ultimately finish tied for 2nd with former teammate and Bollos de Trueno with an astounding 89 points. Guntis had 25 goals, 64 assists, 229 hits and 136 blocks on the year, another excellent season that should hopefully have in in the conversation for some awards again. More importantly the NY Americans made the playoffs in the #4 spot and would face Guntis former team Vancouver in round 1! A well-played series by both sides that saw Guntis' new team New York overcome Vancouver in 4 games but it was much closer than that final score appears. Three of the games were decided by 1 goal and two needed overtime, it was really a great series and he has nothing but respect for his former team and teammates. In the 4 games Guntis had 6 assists to lead the team in points and added 18 hits, 15 shots and 7 blocks. Most amazing though is he somehow lost a fight to some mope named Tim Robinson, despite all his success he is very ashamed of this and will carry a huge grudge going into next season. Will be interesting to see the first time NY and VAN play next year! Next up for the NY Americans in Toronto, which should be another great series. If Gavilrovs can keep up his strong play we could see NY upset the #1 seed. We like their chances!

1. Maybe not a true underdog but I think NY Americans can win it all this season! Talent in all areas. 2. Toronto because they are always an underdog with that curse despite their reg season performance 3. The ice girls, of course! But for real probably some type of hose and long bar device with a squeegee -- Questions: 1. Did your VHL team make the playoffs, how do you think you'll do? 2. Will anyone currently in the NHL break Ovechkins goals record? Who? 3. What did you eat for dinner?

1. Usually Seattle, no real reason besides they were a big rival of my last team Vancouver and we didn't like them 2. I think I would go D again because I've really enjoyed this player and would like the role I play on the team 3. I think Washington is primed for an upset, I still can't believe how much they improved since last season with minimal big moves. Questions: 1. How did you player do this season, tell us your stats! 2. Will you make any build adjustments for playoffs (if you made it) or will you stand pat. If you didn't make it whats your off-season plan 3. Who is your pick for the Stanley Cup this season and why?

Defenseman Guntis Gavilrovs has been hot of late racking up numerous multi-point games and is up to 80 points in 65 games so far! 23 goals and 57 assists ranks him top 3 in Defenseman scoring as he's put together another fantastic season, this time for the New York Americans. He currently leads New York in scoring alongside Jebediah Amish with 80 points which is impressive given the talent on the team. Gavilrovs also has 211 hits and 124 blocks, strong peripherals even if the hits are down a bit from his usual totals as he's not the only big checking Dman on the team this year, sharing the load with the elite CGY. We speculate Gavilrovs will once again be in consideration for some awards after winning 3 last season and being top 3 in scoring this season as we write this. Last years teammate Bollos de Trueno is having another great season also with 84 points so once again these two are among the top D in the league which is really great to see. The NY Americans are on the verge of clinching a playoff spot with a record of 33-23-9 good for 75 points and are right in the mix for any of the final 3 playoff spots in the conference. Should be exciting to see how they finish up and who their opponent may be! This is definitely a team nobody wants to play in the post season. High end offense, two huge physical defenseman and great goaltending they can definitely beat anyone! Stay tuned!

1. My player would be a bull mastiff because he's huge with a giant head 2. He would be able to check people way up into the stands like 2nd level 3. This has actually happened to my player before, he was wearing sweat pants and a hoodie Questions: 1. Ovechkin just broke Gretzky's all time goals record, do you think anyone will break it ever again in your lifetime? 2. If your player could choose one VHL all time record to break what would it be? 3. Who do you think will win the Cup this season?

Last seasons defenseman of the year Guntis Gavilrovs exploded recently with a 4 goal game against Helsinki and is now up to 15 goals on the season. Gavilrovs leads all Defenseman in goals again this season with the 15 and has added 29 assists, good for 44 points in 38 games. Another great season for Gavilrovs this time with his new team in New York where he is currently 2nd in team scoring. Adding 129 hits and 68 blocks he's turning in another well rounded campaign, albeit slightly off his award winning pace from last season but a lot of time left to get even hotter. The Americans are playing some great hockey lately, they even had three straight shutouts this week! They are 6-2-2 in their last 10 including 4 wins in a row that resulted in them passing the Seattle Bears and more importantly the Vancouver Wolves who are actually a pretty good team. Things are clicking in New York right now and they are up to 3rd in the conference looking like a real threat to make some noise in the playoffs this season. Lots of New York players are playing well right now, Ol Doinks has been on fire lately and Janser, Richmond, Reynolds, Anisimov are posting great numbers also. This is a very strong group and if Gavilrovs can continue his pace or even improve on it we could see the Americans go deep in the post season this year!

1. I enjoy a nice Guiness, I'm not really into hard alcohol, but don't mind a rum and coke. 2. Great movie lol, sadly it may be a glimpse of our future if some things don't change 3. My player needs a size 15. I need a 10.5 skate. Questions: 1. Who's your pick for the Stanley Cup this year? 2. Better rookie season in NHL, Lane Hutson or Matvei Michkov? 3. French fries or Onion rings?

Twenty two games into the season and his first in New York Guntis Gavilrovs is off to a great start with 25 points, 8 goals, 90 hits and 47 blocks! Strong numbers for last years best defenseman award winner but not quite on the same pace as his triple award season from a year ago. As Guntis gets more comfortable he may be able to increase his current pace and get back into the top scoring Dmen of the league, but already being over a point per game is fantastic with his new team. New York has had an up and down season so far, hot start then a skid then hot again, currently 9-9-4 good for 5th in the division they will need to pick up the pace in order to stay in the race, but are certainly looking like a playoff team. They could use a little puck luck and we expect they will get some here soon. Guntis is happy in NYC, great teammates and coaches and he's confident the group can play more consistent as we get into the main part of the season. He is still threatening to run Vancouver goalie Soju next time they play and is not scared of the threats made against him by former teammates Bollos de Trueno and Logan Ninefingers if he does. New York doesn't play Vancouver again for a while, so we'll see if tempers cool by then..

1. There's a lot good ones, I love the teams I've played for (Van/War/NY) and always thought Helsinki was a classic 2. My first player was a pure goal scoring forward, my current player is a physical offensive defenseman 3. Water, but soda is delicious. Questions: 1. How is your team and player doing so far this season? 2. What's better NCAA Hockey playoffs or March Madness? 3. If you could have made it pro, what would have been your sport?
