ng1291 reacted to leandrofg in Team Europe's S83 campaign
We've reached the end of another World Junior Hockey Championship. As my selfish goal, I intended to avenge Team Europe's season 82 campaign.

Last season's campaign was a heartbreaker.

Not only for me as the leader but everyone involved with the team... heartbreak. After sweeping the round-robin stage in a fabulous, undefeated fashion, a debacle happened.

We not only lost in the semi-finals, but our morale broke, and we lost the bronze medal game.

This stuck with me, as I couldn't let it go, so I put my name up again to lead Team Europe. Fortunately, I got the call, and this chance wouldn't go to waste.

The first thing was getting the band together, so I called Janser, and he swiftly said yes - and he brought a new mentee!

After this, it was team-building time, and I don't think we could have chosen any better. We started by getting our returning captains, Tomas Sogaard and Leandro Goncalves. The ex-Kings partners were part of last season's effort and were the right players to lead the rest of the team.

Afterward, we dipped our hands in the two best teams of the VHLE, my Bratislava Watchmen and the Vasteras Iron Eagles.

Marcel Janser, Harry Hagel, Baxter Arcanum, Phoebe Bridgers, Alf Larsson, and someone who ultimately couldn't join us, Janet Snakehole.

We followed by picking some of the best in the VHLE, Calen McKay, Noodles Marconi, and PJ Daniels.

Finally, it was time to pick from the VHLM's best.

Fraser Wallace and Svatopluk Puk, from the Marlins. Jean Mercier from the Lynx, Basileus Jute from the Wild, and last but not least, Velociraptor Greg from the Aces.

This group didn't go undefeated in the round-robin stage, conceding three losses, but played great hockey as a great team. And that allowed us to go through in 1st-place.

Do you know what they did do? They won the last two games of the tournament and hatched their names in history.

These players are the World Junior Hockey Champions. Season 83 is theirs, and I couldn't be more proud of this group. 🇪🇺

Tagging you all, because I appreciate you!

One last deserved shout-out is a fellow European, Frosty, who this past season allowed me to pick his brain about line strategy, and that came in very handy during the tournament. @FrostBeard

    1. I would like to just progress in my career and hopefully win a championship.
    2. I agree that an all star game would be awesome.
    3. I don't think I have any regrets. I had a slow start but have been able to pick up some points as of late.
    4. Win. We have a great team, so I think we have just as good of a chance as any team to go all the way.
    5. Las Vegas and Houston are the two most dangerous teams in the playoffs.
    6. Personally, I like winning more. Winning a championship would just be more fun for me.

    Alf Larsson
    6'2 210 lbs.

Alf Larsson was born and grew up in a small town in Sweden. Alf learned to skate from an early age of 3 on a pond near the town. One day a group of kids were playing a casual game of hockey on that pond, so he asked if he could play. Even though he had never played the sport, he was the best player on the ice that day. He loved the game of hockey so much after that game, that he practiced hours on that pond every day. When Alf was about 10 years old, he joined an organized team with his friends. As expected, Alf dominated this league, but wanted more competition.

Living in the small town that he did, he was not being recognized. His parents had realized how talented he was, so they moved to Stockholm when he was 15, hoping Alf could continue his greatness. He joined the most competitive league in Stockholm and only became better. When he turned 16, he joined the Swedish Hockey League. The first season he was the leading scorer of the league with 30 goals and 50 assists. On opening night of his second season, Alf had suffered an awful injury, completely tearing his ACL. Unfortunately, near the end of his recovery, Alf fell down the stairs and tore his other ACL. After another long season of rehab, Alf managed to come back stronger than ever. At the age of 19, Alf had broken the season record for most points with 40 goals and 60 assists. After this, he decided to head to North America to pursue his dream of the VHL.

Alf's hockey IQ and elite skills had him noticed by the Ottawa Lynx recently. He signed with the Lynx and has been playing on the 4th line, learning from the leaders of the team. He understands that in order to win, he needs to play his role. Alf realized that with his size at the wing, he could develop a more all-around game, so he has put in a lot of work on defense and physicality. His game has been compared to David Pastrnak, with his great scoring ability and playmaking. Alf has always been known as a great teammate and after his journey in the SHL, became a fan favorite in Sweden. His goal is to win this season with Ottawa and continue to grow as a player so next season he can have a big role on a team.

    1. I do think we deserve this. We have a great roster, and everyone has put in the work to be in this position.
    2. I also will have to go with Mississauga. Our series with them has been back and forth this year.
    3. I was not around last season, so I am not sure. But from what it seems, we have a shot to even be better.
    4. Vasile Lamb or Gunnarwolfe Vomacka. Both these players are having great seasons.
    5. Have to go with just a classic pepperoni. Maybe get some bacon on there.
    6. I would not put pineapple on a pizza, but if someone does like it, I have no problem with that.
