  2. 1. Just getting to play with such a GOAT is an honor. Its been 2 short seasons but I am humbled! 2. I vote for Newhook 3. Best Christmas Song is "Christmas in Hollis" by RUN DMC. Worst Christmas song is ALL OF THEM (especially "All I want for christmas is you" 4. I have missed 3 or 4 I think 5. I am from Pennsylvania but grew up in Florida. The lowest I've probably been in is -2 or -3. 6. Toronto, CA on a college trip
  3. This one was kind of a goof haha. I just wanted to make a funny one.
  4. The VHL is a demanding league, rife with upsets and surprises. In S74, Moscow looked to be a powerhouse rolling into the playoffs. Pietro's first year in the Motherland had been fruitful for a rookie, tallying 50 points (23G, 27A) in the regular season. Just as Pietro was hitting his stride The Menace hit a wall, falling to the Helsinki Titans in the EU Semi-Finals. After a year in the VHL Big Leagues, we caught up with Pietro in the midst of S75... Interviewer: "Looking good out there, Pietro. How are you feeling after a year and a half up in the Bigs?" PA: "It's been a tough going. I work as hard as I can to help the team but we have been losing some close games this year. I need to bury my chances and be better on defense." Interviewer: "How can you be better on the defensive side of the ice?" PA: "Blocking more shots, offer support for our backstop Bernard, and make sure to backcheck and dig the puck out to tilt the ice towards our offensive zone." Interviewer: "You have tripled your blocked shots so far this season so we can see the development. Any insight there?" PA: "It hurts haha. Bruises, bumps, unselfish hockey. Gotta get out in front of the clappers, and believe me these guys can sling the puck. Just make sure to get your face out of the way or you might have a smile like mine." Interviewer: "Spittin chiclets, for sure. Your point total is about on par with last season, any thoughts on how you can create more offense?" PA: "I feel like I am shooting the puck well and getting a lot of chances thanks to my linemates Latty, Vinny, and Newhook. We rotate quite a bit and I get work on the wing. I like being able to jump around and find new ways to get involved." Interviewer: "Your shots are way up, getting over 4 a game, an increase from last season. How can you capitalize on the chances?" PA: "Sometimes it takes a bit of luck. Sometimes I just need to move the puck back to the point and let the D get a chance. This kid Palloon can shoot!" Interviewer: "Great to see you guys working well together. Hoping for a good win streak to get you into the postseason." PA: "If we are lucky. I think it will keep us hungry by fighting our way up. I like the challenge." Players Mentioned: @Mr_Hatter, @Beketov, @VinCal, @GrittyIsKing09
  5. 1. Boom, Flip it. Let's try out consistency instead! 2. It is always too early. (I am a Grinch). Not really, anytime in December is fine. Just... fuck christmas music. 3. I'd say @Beketov. He is a solid player and active in the LR. 4. Fat Palloon @UnkemptCL4PTPhas come out of nowhere. I see him getting on the scoresheet almost every game. Solid for a D-Man. 5. I'm a numbers guy so I like boring stuff like 2048. 6. I'm very jealous of the hilarious Randy Marsh @oilmandan
  6. Questions; Week of 11/23: 1. We are off to a slow start this season. How do we get back on track? 2. We have some new faces in the LR, how are they fitting in so far? 3. After our early exit last playoffs, how do you think Moscow will end up this season? 4. How do you feel about the Bot lately? Are we being shafted? 5. If your player is off to a slow start this season (like mine), how do you plan to get back in the groove? 6. It's Thanksgiving week in the US. What are you thankful for?
  7. 1. The Moscow discord really drops off in activity in the off-season. in your opinion, is it important to keep activity up during these times? I think moderate activity is good but team communication should definitely be present. 2. What's the first thing you wanna watch during a snowstorm? Don't get many snowstorms where I live but I'd be watching some Star Trek regardless 3. What's your player's favorite work out during the off-season? Bulgarian Split Squats and tire flips 4. Favorite CHL team? if you aren't from Canada ill take answer's from other countries too! I am an American (I know, pretty awful these days). But I do support the Penguins AHL Affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Baby Penguins 5. What's your favorite sport besides hockey? Football, probably. Big Steelers Fan. 6. Telker really needs to run to the pooper so he's typing this last question out really fast. what will his top speed be on the way in KM/H? I'd say about 7.5 kph.
  8. 1. Who scares you the most going into the playoffs? Malmo looks strong on a 3 game win streak into the playoffs. Looks like we need to get back on track. 2. Moscow had a weirdly shaky end to the season, can we get back to top form for the playoffs? I am hoping so. We were riding high for so long it was bound to come down a bit. I think we can turn it on now that the games matter most. 3. Whats one team that you have to tie yourself towards as the team that got you interested or more excited about the VHL? (Don’t worry, if you don’t say Moscow then @Victor won’t hit you too hard) Moscow has been my destination since the start. @Victor claimed Angellini very early on and I've only been interested in playing for the Motherland since. 4. Would you say you do more, less, or the same amount of sports on TV since the pandemic hit around March? I am watching as much as I can. I binged the NHL playoffs (Sad Pens fan :( ), been following MLB playoffs (Go Rays), and now I'm right back into NFL as usual (Go Steelers) 5. I am in need of a new Netflix show to binge, suggestions? I have been watching all the Star Trek series since the pandemic started. I finished TNG, Deep Space 9, and Voyager. I am now watching Enterprise (definitely not as good as the others). I recommend all of the series as they are full of content and much better than the regurgitated crap coming out currently. 6. Whether you retire have to retire next year or have a newer player now, do you plan on recreating? I am very early on in my VHL career but I would recreate once the time came. I am still in my first calendar year but I'm in my 3rd VHL season (first VHL, had 2 in VHLM). It is a nice hobby to have!
  9. After ascending to the Bigs on the wave of a personal record season in the VHLM, Pietro Angellini was eager to get to the Motherland and join his new team, the Moscow Menace. The top league in the world is demanding and Pietro was up to the challenge but his rookie season was not without adversity. Pietro found himself in awe of the talent level of the VHL, squaring off with elite players every time he took the ice. Pietro was determined to make his rookie debut count. He took this challenge head on. This was the toughest competition he had ever seen and he believed he came in unprepared. Pietro took to the weight room, practice, and team meetings with gusto. His demeanor changed. A man possessed. Initially stumbling out of the gate, Pietro found his stride alongside his new teammates. His new GM @Victorhad tasked him with playing Wing, something he had done in seasons past but was unaccustomed to as he considered himself a natural Center. @Victor knew Pietro had the skills and it began to pay off. Pietro began contributing on a nightly basis, finishing the regular season with 50pts (23G, 27A) and 50 hits, a truly balanced rookie season. The Playoffs are looming and Pietro is preparing. He just may make his mark yet.
  10. NEW QUESTIONS 1. 47 games into the season and we sit at 33 wins. How many will we finish the season with? Hopefully we can crack 60. That would be sweet. Looks like we've been on a bit of a roll lately, as well. 2. We currently sit first place in the league, one point up on Malmo. Can we hold onto that lead through the final 25 games? Oh man, that is great to see. I think we have what it takes to stay on top. It would be great to go into postseason as the #1 seed. 3. How has the addition of Mikko Lahtinen affected our team success? Mikko coming in hot. Topping the score sheet most games. Great add, on the cusp of 1000TPE. MOSCOWMOSCOWMOSCOW 4. Speaking of Lahtinen, he is three goals back of Patrick Tallinder for the goals lead with a game in hand. Can Mikko leapfrog him by season’s end and how many goals will he finish with? Anytime we're discussing two guys with a 60 goal season in their sights it is a good sign. I hope they tie with 62 each! 5. Our powerplay has been decent, clicking at almost 23% for sixth in the league. What can we do to get that to top five or three? Angellini is back in action and looking to make up for some low cap weeks. I hope to contribute going forward. Gotta get those shots on net and make sure to win as many faceoffs as possible! 6. Our PK unit has been decent as well but not elite, killing nearly 80% of powerplays against. How can we improve to get that into one of the elite PK units? Defense, baby. Playing at the disadvantage can define a team and I think an 80% kill rate is fantastic. If we could tighten up and get to 90% we would be pretty unstoppable.
  11. After an eventful and stellar VHLM career, Pietro Angellini was called up to the Bigs by Moscow Menace GM @Victor and all things pointed to a solid first year campaign with his new teammates. Pietro was riding high. His dream of making it to the top league on the planet was coming true. But, as he found his seat on the International Flight to the Motherland, Pietro acknowledged that he felt full of doubt, questioning everything. He wasn't at fault. Imposter Syndrome affects even the best athletes, not to mention most people once in a while. Pietro was reluctant and seemed a bit off when we caught up with him via video call once he landed. Interviewer: "Pietro, it's finally time. You've officially made it to the Bigs. How does it feel?" PA: "Different. You know how ironic life can be sometimes. Everything plays out in a dream sequence, unreal, and all of a sudden you're in a foreign country with a huge opportunity but, at the same time, the weight of everything seems to be overwhelming. I don't know when it hit me, exactly, or even if it really has yet." Pietro clutched a book, always thumbing through some sort of text; The Kybalion penned by anonymous authors known only as "The Three Initiates" Interviewer: "I'll be honest, you've taken me by surprise. I anticipated high spirits. Can you give us a look into what your mindset is going into the bigtime?" PA: "I am definitely excited for the opportunity. But, every now and then, life has a funny way of testing your resolve. I have dealt with bouts of depression and anxiety for my entire life. Often times Hockey had been my escape but this promotion has been surreal and even though I should be nothing but excited, I have been feeling a bit lost lately. Mental health is no joke. Sometimes everything can go exactly how you've wanted it and you just can't shake that "am I supposed to be here?" feeling." Interviewer: "Absolutely. A lot of times professional athletes are seen as larger-than-life figures who are immune to common afflictions. I appreciate you being open and honest about dealing with these kind of problems. Us Regular Joes can relate." PA: "It's a rut, for sure, and I am getting through it but existence and meaning is something we all have to face at some point in our lives. I'll admit that this is potentially the worst time for me to be feeling this way. But I intend to use the uncertainty as motivation, flip the script on my own uncertainties. My new teammates in Moscow, Telkster @Telkster Newhook@GrittyIsKing09 and Mikko@Beketov just to name a few, have been more than welcoming and I intend on giving everything I have to contribute to the team's success." Interviewer: "It is very noble of you to offer a look into some of the mental difficulties that come with such a demanding sport and career. We are looking forward to seeing what you can do at the next level and I believe a lot of our listeners and readers can relate. You are not alone." PA: "I appreciate that. For anyone out there who has ever felt off, down-and-out, numb, just know you aren't alone. We all go through it, some more than others. Give time and respect to everyone, all walks of life. And the most important thing is to never stop working to be better than yesterday. Never. Quit."
  12. Man, @SirRupertBarnes I didn't even see the Canes squares on the waistband! That bothers me now haha. I appreciate the kind words and hope to keep making some solid renders!
  13. 1. We gave it a hell of a run but our season has ended. How do you feel about our season as a whole? I think we put together a hell of a season. We had some good runs where we were unstoppable and everyone began to mesh with each other. It was a tough way to be eliminated but I think the season was a success overall. 2. Who is your pick for our playoff MVP? HJK @Dtayl 3. What are your aspirations for next season? I'd like to at least contribute on a bottom line in the VHL. It would be awesome to become a factor on a 4th line for a strong squad. 4. Now for some lighter stuff; Cats or Dogs? Defend your answer. Dogs. Loyal, friendly, always there for you. I have been living alone for a few years now and I have been considering getting a pup of my own. 5. Now that Vegas got a new shiny logo, what changes would you like to see for the Marlins’ crest in the future? I like the Marlin's crest. It is unique among the other logos due to the off-balance nature. I think an alternate, text-free logo could be cool. I’m gonna start playing D&D with some friends soon and I’m actually kind of excited about it. So in the spirit of that the last question is related to D&D. If you play or have played answer 6A, if you haven’t or won’t answer 6B. 6A. Tell me about your D&D character(s). 6B. If you don’t play D&D, do you have a reason why? I have always thought it takes a lot of time and effort to know the rules and develop a character. Maybe I was just overthinking it.
  14. 1. With Ottawa down, we’ll either get Miami or Houston in the second round (if Vegas can complete a comeback versus Minnesota). What’s the key to not only hanging in with Miami, but beating them in a series? Defense, as always. The better we can defend and make the game easier for Dimmadome @Esso2264 the better our chances. Goals are gifts and everyone likes scoring but defense wins championships. 2. Personally, I think we have the grit to beat Houston, what would you say the key would be to beating Houston? We need to skate with them and match their pace. They have been on fire all season and not many teams have been able to slow them down. If we match their pace and get them to chase us a bit we should draw some penalties and get some power play time which has proven to be an advantage for us so far. 3. What were some of the words exchanged in the handshake line between yourself and a member of the Lynx that you could share with the group? I definitely gave props to Alec Volchenkov @SirRupertBarnes, he had a hell of a series and was a solid opponent through the whole series. 4. Looking ahead to the offseason for a moment, what is one thing you’d like to do this offseason in the VHL that would be engaging with the community? I think some more people hosting live graphics sessions would be cool. I could use some photoshop pointers and I know others would probably enjoy some tips, as well. Besides that, Zetterberg's offseason tournament was pretty cool last year. I will be entering again. 5. Who among your San Diego teammates are you most interested in following as they make their transition to the VHL next season? It will be awesome to see what Merrick @Steve and HJK @Dtayl can do at the next level. They have been great teammates and I will be looking forward to seeing them in the bigs. 6. What are your favorite hockey-based shows/films? If you haven’t seen a single hockey show/film, what are you doing with your life instead you heathen? Mystery, Alaska is an all-time favorite. I also enjoyed Goon and have a soft spot for the Mighty Ducks, of course. Besides that, Letterkenny, though loosely related to hockey, has been a hilarious look at rural Canada. BONUS: FEEL FREE NOT TO ANSWER IF YOU’RE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH IT: At the risk of making things a bit political, with all the unrest in the world right now, hockey has stood with many other sports in support of ending systemic racism. Approaching the subject on a more sports-orientated road, what would be one thing you’d like to see changed to help further diversify the game of hockey and encourage Black athletes to pursue a career on the ice? HOCKEY IS FOR EVERYONE. EVERYTHING IS FOR EVERYONE. EQUALITY ACROSS THE BOARD.
