  14. Well, Landon Wolanin has played in his final regular season games. I will be doing a larger report on his performance as a whole in the future but for now I just want to take the time to appreciate what was. Landon was a player that never really took that extra step forward. He was a player who was always there but not quite THERE. He featured on many a top 10 leaderboard, but not on the upper half. He had many incredible teammates, and played for many incredible teams. He got to ride shotgun with a first-ballot Hall of Famer most of his career. It was a great experience as my first player where I was actually earning and paying attention. It will be hard to move on, but I’m excited for new opportunities to be less mid, and maybe apply some more of the things that I learned over the course of my career to my next player. I’ll be coming in with a boatload of carryover, and I know where to find those extra tidbits of TPE now. While I may not be the same member that the site voted for the Elmebeck in S84, as well a lot has changed in my life since then, I hope to inspire another generation of new members to take up the reins that us old farts left, and shape this league how you want to see it. As many of you know I will be taking a half season hiatus from having a player, although I will still be GMing my little heart out. I have a couple projects to keep me occupied for a few weeks, but generally this next month or so is pretty crazy as I’m sure all of you can relate to. I’ve got a lot of transition coming for me at work, and who knows what life looks like outside of the short term. I’m glad I can continue to make the VHL something that I want to dedicate my time to. For my next player, I’m hopping into a stacked S94 draft class, and I’ll be waiting patiently to see what kind of position will be available. You might not see the next iteration of my agency until the Saturday or something. I want to get the best glimpse I can get of where the nationalities are distributed, what the names are like, and how I can position myself best over the course of my career. I have things to accomplish this time around. I’m leaning away from forward, and you’ll certainly be seeing me make an appearance for the Marlins! You might not see me at the VHLM draft, although if I’m below 200, I will not be skipping the VHLM. I think the VHLE will be just fine without me, if it exists at that point. This is my last chance to have a father son showdown at least for a little while, so I’ll obviously be rooting for Helsinki and London (duh) in this coming round, so that we can have one final duel! Who better to take me out than myself!
  15. i thought you liked me

      That Spartan guy STINKS!

  17. This is great work! Fumbled one pick myself, but the rest of my team was spot on!
  18. This season has been, something to say the least. Nothing followed expectations, and honestly I have no idea what to think at this point. Perhaps the playoffs show the true colours of teams, or maybe we get some more shenanigans than we have even seen at this point. Today we will go through some of the incredibly strange things that Simon has put us through. Toronto is bad? Actually, no they were just waiting to go on a 14 game winning streak. One of the worst starts that I’ve ever seen from a team that was so obviously the second best in their conference. They turned in a stellar defensive effort, one that we expected from the start, with top goaltender Joel Castle leading the charge. Their offense became one of the better ones in the league, although a more balanced effort than perhaps some of us would have expected. Riga was the best team in the universe, and now they’re pretty good, but honestly most of us expected them to be a wild-card team, and not even their GM expected this level of performance. They aren’t the best scoring team, nor the best defensive team but they just win games. They have a killer instinct that other teams simply don’t have. Davos is mid? Actually, they’re also great! They waited until the end of the season to turn on the jets with a Lachlan Summers type of Lachlan Summers performance. They also decided that a 14 game winning streak would suit them well, and with opportunity to extend that, a team that was on the brink of elimination, would then become the conferences top squad, at least for now. There is lots of competition in these finals games however, so who knows what will happen. Chicago is great? They’re also bad? They’re actually the best team ever in extra time? That’s probably more like it. This team simply wants to play the most hockey and really tire themselves out. However this strategy is working better than those of teams like the Dragons and Wranglers, who have far more talent on their rosters. Prague is great? No actuallyn they’re mid. And so is Helsinki? Two of the teams that should have been at the top of the table, and yet they’ll be fighting each other to stay in the play-in round. Prague can’t score, and Helsinki can’t win games, despite scoring plenty. Seems to be a lot of scoring in wins, but not in games that become losses. Both teams could have been 100 point teams in another season, but EU is brutal, and losing key conference matchups has cost each of them dearly. The final team that seems confusing is that New York has one of the strongest scoring duos, and picked up a serviceable goaltender, and yet still find themselves far outside of a playoff spot. I obviously never expected them to be a top team, but wasting a season of offensive production like this, even if they made investments to try, is strange indeed.
  19. One final season goes by and as it comes to a conclusion, the question is whether Landon Wolanin can escape his career woes and break the 100 point threshold. With 8 games to go, and 7 points left to hit the mark, it will require consistency, or a couple of massive efforts. 3 more goals and he would exceed his season high, and hit the 50 goal mark for the first time. A 50-goal, 50-assist season isn’t out of the question, and would be a great addition to his good career. His shooting rate is lower than past seasons and so the focus has turned to making the most of the opportunities, rather than blindly shooting at every opportunity. It is refreshing to see that this kind of success is not limited to being a Wrangler, and that he doesn’t need a Daniel Janser type, first-ballot Hall of Famer, partner to carry him to success. Not that Daryl Dixon is any form of a slouch, but has obviously not put together the kind of career that is trending towards a first-ballot Hall of Fame induction.
