  1. Out current record does not reflect on the rest of the season, I know we’re gonna get going we just need to find some consistency. Through the first 10 games I am disappointed with my performance, I know I can turn things around but I haven’t been producing as well as I know I can. If we’re going to rescue Mutti in Mexico we’re definitely cruising in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, it’s luxurious and fast enough to escape from the cartels.
  2. I’ve definitely not performed to my standard. I need to step up and start contributing more if my team is gonna start winning more games I can always count on Nathan Ecker he’s my guy. I feel my team can still win the founders cup, we just gotta get going on offense Our scariest opponent is Las Vegas, they’re killing it right now and we need to catch up to them If I was stuck on an island with 4 other players it would be Ecker, Jake, Mutti, and Lucy The Houston Bulls mascot would be a bull wearing a bulls jersey, I think his name would be Bobby or Benny
  3. Nathan Schwartz, a six foot one, hundred and ninety-three pound center from Pennsylvania, was once a highly touted player. At one point it was believed he was the best player his age, but at some point his stock took a big hit leaving his professional hockey future in question. In this report, we will be taking a deep dives in his greatest strengths and weaknesses, as well as an evaluation as to why his stock took such a hit. Strengths: Schwartz has an exceptional feel for the offensive side of the game. He always knows how to get his shot off in any situation and has other worldly vision. He sets up his line mates for easy goals with lethally accurate passes. His wrist shot is incredibly strong and he uses his hands very well to get it off at tough angles. Schwartz is a phenomenal skater and handles the puck with ease. He may well be pound for pound one of the fastest guys to ever touch the ice. Blink and you might miss him, he gets down the ice as fast as McDavid, and can finish at the crease as strong as Lindros in his prime. Bodies from defenders seem to not phase the kid as he is very strong while attacking the crease. He also has a deep bag of tricks that will leave defenders looking silly, whether it’s a simple as a toe drag and release or a quick spin move he can leave spectators in all with his skills. On the faceoff, Schwartz is very solid. There is room for improvement but he still projects as an above average winner on the puck drop. Physicality is another strong suit of his game, however he is not very quick to implement it to his game. With the right coaches, he could become a very physically dominant force that will drive opponents wild night in and night out. Weaknesses Concentration is the biggest area in need of improvement. Schwartz tends to lack focus at times in the neutral zone, leading to costly turnovers or overly greedy passes the go astray. If he can dial this in it will help him become even more of a dominant point scorer, seeing more possession time in the offensive zone every game. Defensive fundamentals also need serious improvement. Schwartz seems lackadaisical on the defensive end. Poor discipline leading to penalties, underwhelming stick skills, and an overall lack of effort. If under the right coach, Schwartz could be fine tuned into a weapon in the defensive zone, his size and speed alone would allow for it, it’s all a matter of hard work and effort on that end. Injuries. They have plagued Schwartz’s young career thus far and is a major factor setting back his development. The number one key to any player meeting their full potential is ice time. And Schwartz seemed to not see enough of it at the lower levels. He missed a full season from a knee injury suffered in training that nearly ended his career, and a few years later missed half of his games with an ankle injury. Schwartz needs to stay healthy if any team at the top level would want to put him on their roster. It is very clear that Schwartz’s injury history was the major factor in his stock tanking heading into the VHLM draft. He was simply seen as a boom or bust prospect. GM’s knew if he could stay healthy he could become a franchise player, but the key word is IF. Schwartz has not proven he can stay healthy and until he does teams may not take him seriously as a prospect. Rumors also circulated around front offices across the league about Schwartz’s dedication to the game. They point to his lack of effort and development on the defensive end as the major indicator to that. I call bogus. There are many players at the professional levels who show very little involvement defensively yet more than make up for it on offense. I truly believe Schwartz played such little defense because he thought team weren’t looking at him for it and because he played at such a low level of competition that he just didn’t have to. It also could have something to do with his desire to stay healthy, and the spending too much energy on defense would cause his legs to give out when he needed them most. That also brings us to the third reason his stock fell. Competition. Schwartz played in a very weak regional scene in South Jersey on a very talented team. Some questioned that maybe his stats were so good because his team was so much better than others. While that is certainly true, you just cannot deny talent when you see it. Schwartz passes the eye test, plain and simple. Size, speed, skills, and shot, he has it all. Schwartz will certainly make all the team that pass on him regret their decisions. I compare his game to the like of McDavid or Crosby, because his offensive game is so complete and he is also a similar athlete to the two of them. He has franchise caliber player written all over him.
  4. Born in Dresden, in eastern Germany, Nathan Schwartz’s family immigrated to the United States when he was just a year old. In their new home, Bristol, PA, the Schwartz’s were indoctrinated in a rich history of hockey culture. Located just down the road from their town home on Beaver Street in Bristol was the historic Grundy Ice Arena. The home of youth hockey teams across the northern Philadelphia suburbs, Grundy has been a staple of the Bristol community for over sixty years. Schwartz’s older brother, Zach, was the first of the family to lace up the skates. He and his younger twin brothers, Nathan and Kyle, would become icons of the suburban hockey town. Schwartz first started skating at just three years old, and shortly after was on Grundys own youth hockey team, the Grizzlies. Quickly, Nathan showed a natural ability for the beautiful game and he would be moved up two age brackets two play with his brother for the Senators, Grundys other team for more talented players. The brothers would dominate the youth hockey scene in the region, many of their highlights going viral on YouTube. Zach, an undersized goalie with incredible flexibility made acrobatic saves look routine. Nathan, looking minuscule next to the older players, would fly past defenses and bury pucks in the oppositions net at a furious pace. He wouldn’t be tiny forever though, by the age of twelve Nathan had grown to five feet ten inches tall weighing one hundred and seventy pounds. He looked like he was supposed to be there with the older players, but it was time for him to venture on. A new team was on the horizon for Schwartz as he was to spend his thirteen year old season, a regional team across the river in Mercer county New Jersey, but things took a turn for the worse. In training that summer Schwartz would take a nasty fall into the boards causing him to dislocate his knee. The diagnosis was brutal, tears of his ACL, MCL, Meniscus and a fractured patella, and his future in hockey was in jeopardy. The injury would cause Schwartz to miss a full year of hockey in what would have been a crucial year of development. Even worse, he lost his opportunity to play for one of the best teams on the east coast. Schwartz did not allow this injury to hold him back and after a long year of rehabilitation, he would come back even stronger. He returned to the Senators for his first year of high school hockey, and he dominated. In thirty games he scored fifty-seven goals and seventy assist, and put himself in the running for Pennsylvania’s youth hockey player of the year. He would miss out on the award, but it only made him hungrier. He would finally get his chance to play for the Mercer County Generals in his age fifteen season and once again was phenomenal. He played forty games and scored fifty-two goals and notched another seventy assists that season and this time was nominated for New Jersey youth hockey player of the year, this time he won. He was officially on the map nation-wide. He began receiving offers from top collegiate programs. Penn State, Minnesota and Boston College all came calling his name offering full ride scholarships. Big name clubs were also vying for his talents, but Schwartz did not want to be far from home, and opted to stay in Mercer county. After undergoing an intense training regimen in the summer Schwartz was ready to light up the New Jersey hockey scene for his junior season, and he did just that. He posted thirty-seven goals and forty-two assists in just sixteen games that year before a high ankle sprain would cut the season short for him. The minor set back did him no favors, as the college programs who a year prior were screaming his name started to get cold feet. They saw an injury prone player playing in an uncompetitive league on a team full of talented players. His job looked easy, but perhaps it was because he made it look so easy. His senior season would be more of the same, thirty-six goals and sixty-two assists was seen as a step back from the dominance he displayed before. His added muscle seemed to help him stay healthy that year as he was able to play in every game for his team, but there were no college offers on the table. Schwartz decided he didn’t need college after the season ended so he would declare for the VHLM draft. His hopes were high, he had very strong workouts with every team in the league and saw himself going as early as the first round, but that wouldn’t be so. He would go undrafted but luckily enough was one of the first free agents signed after the draft by the Houston Bulls. This is only the start of his story, the rest of it is yet to be written, but Schwartz has a proven history of overcoming adversity and to be where he is now is an accomplishment of its own.
  5. At the junior level Schwartz dominated, posting 36 goals and 62 assists in 48 games. He possesses good size at the center position, 6’1” 193 lbs. He has decent hands with the puck but tends to lose concentration at times and mishandles occasionally in the neutral zone. He makes up for these flaws with his incredible skating, breakaway speed and a powerful wrist shot. His best ability on the ice is his ability to set up his teammates. He had a great rapport with his teammates at the junior level, with an uncanny ability to seamlessly hit his teammates in the perfect spots. He also excels when making breakaway passes up to his wingers. He lacks effort and aggression on the defensive end, but with the coaching staff in Houston he should be able to develop into a solid defender. The major knock against him the effected his draft stock was his level of competition, but make no mistake he passes the eye test and has all the attributes you want from a player who will make things happen in the offensive zone. Nathan Schwartz projects to be a force offensively at the professional level. His ceiling: MVP.
