I knew you were a gentleman and a scholar! While I do enjoy the original, nowadays. I discovered the song through a cover a while ago (a good few years ago, actually). It's a fantastic melody.

We are 14 games into the 86th season of the VHL. A fifth of the season in. We've seen sensationally hot starts and others... not so much. Where does Leandro fit in? With the departure of über-extraordinaire Saku Kotkakoivu from the Calgary Wranglers, Leandro has the opportunity to lead a line onto the ice for the first time in his VHL career. What about his impact on the ice this season? The Portuguese Center strives for greatness but has been struggling to find it. Not because of his level of play but because of the level of play of those surrounding him. The easy comparison is Daniel Janser, one of the best players in the VHL, who leads the Wranglers' first line. At the moment of writing, the Swiss is 5th in points scored, 6th in Hits, and his line is Top 3 in the plus/minus column. Leandro, in contrast, has the worst shot percentage of his career, at a sub-5%. That's glaring at a personal level, but since his been assisting his line-mates, we can look past that. What is troublesome to overcome is the plus/minus differential between his line and Janser's. An unmistakable -12. Yes, Leandro has two new Wranglers by his side, while Janser plays with two Wranglers that were a part of last season's team. (And, yes. One of them is extraordinaire Landon Wolanin, who looks poised to have his breakout season!) Still, even with this lackluster start, Leandro seems focused on his task of leading the Wranglers' second line. Not only that, even as a veteran, he's still looking to improve his game to match the opponents' level wherever he's needed.

This season's nominees for the Mitch Higgins Trophy are... @Reno, Reno Reinhold, from the Houston Bulls and the Saskatoon Wild, with 33 Goals, 70 Assists, 103 Points, and +5. Also, 233 Hits and 191 Shots Blocked. @Emann2003, Ethan Mann, from the Houston Bulls, with 38 Goals, 75 Assists, 113 Points, and +24. Also, 136 Hits and 69 Shots Blocked. @UnknownMinion, Alexander Minion, from the Saskatoon Wild, with a 38-29-5 record, a .921 Save Percentage, a 2.58 GAA, and 7 Shutouts. @Ricer13, Daryl Dixon, from the Miami Marauders, with 54 Goals, 69 Assists, 123 Points, and +64. Also, 126 Hits and 60 Shots Blocked. -- Now... we could stand here and make a case for each of the nominees, but in reality, there are two real contenders for this award. In the Blue Corner, standing in at 6' 1", weighing 200 lbs... The Mediocre One! And in the Red Corner, standing at 5' 10", weighing 170 lbs... Daryl Dixon! -- And the winner of the Mitch Higgins Trophy and your new VHLM MVP...
-
Yeah, I saw the position switch. Still, you did win the award as a defenseman and it'll be part of the record books as such. Now... if you win a MVP as a Center... that will make people 'dizzy' in the future.
-
Why not? I felt like Hulk needed some good ol' appreciation as a leading defenseman.
-
The Mitch Higgins Trophy. The MVP. No higher honor is awarded in the VHLM. Winning this award means your future is bright, and the proof is in the careers of past winners, some of whom we have already spoken about tonight. Now... It's... time! For the main event of the evening!

We resume the regularly scheduled program with the Ryan Sullivan Trophy. This trophy is awarded to the player deemed to be the top defenseman in the VHLM. The defenseman is the ever-changing position in hockey and players who have won this award in the past come in all shapes and sizes. Recently we had @BOOM's Hammar Voss take the award in S82 and @Hogan's Hulk Hogan 2 take it in S80. -- This season's nominees are: @Reno, Reno Reinhold, from the Houston Bulls and the Saskatoon Wild, with 33 Goals, 70 Assists, 103 Points, and +5. Also, 233 Hits and 191 Shots Blocked. @Bobcat, Jens Lekman, from the Las Vegas Aces, with 13 Goals, 56 Assists, 69 Points (Nice!), and +43. Also, 181 Hits and 90 Shots Blocked. @Reno, Jack the Ripper, from the Saskatoon Wild, with 23 Goals, 69 Assists, 92 Points, and -5. Also, 146 Hits and 160 Shots Blocked. -- Your S85 Ryan Sullivan Trophy winner is...
