There is an app

If you click on your profile picture, then Settings then Notification Settings on the right side, you can change what kinds of notifications show up under the bell at the top of the forum, and which ones go to your email. I know I get an email every time I get a forum message, but you could also do that for Followed Content (I just follow too much Content). You can also get desktop notifications if you're viewing on a computer, but sounds like you're mostly on mobile. It was usually Discord notifications that reminded me to come back when I was starting out though!

The app no longer works unless you already have it downloaded cause the maintenance of it couldn't be maintained.
