  1. HC Davos Dynamo Press Conference You ONLY have to answer 6 of the 8 questions Week Of January 19th 2025 - January 26th 2025 1. Happy Theme Week! Thoughts on this season’s theme? 2. If you are answering this presser before the TDL, what moves do you believe Davos should make for a better run at the Cup? If you are answering after, what are your opinions on the team’s moves at the TDL, if any? 3. What advice would you give to your past self when you first joined the VHL, given everything you know now? 4. What color stick tape does your player use? 5. Describe your player’s personality and drop a fact that others may not know about them! 6. Antonia Bucatini has had a career year so far with 72 points in 47 games (as of Monday, January 20th)! How many points do you believe she will finish the season with? 7. If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be and why? 8. What kind of video games are your favorite, if any (ex. FPS, interactive, platformer, fighting, RPG, etc.)?
  2. Going into his rookie season in the VHL, River Harrington wasn’t sure about many things— would he match up to the veterans that have already dominated for years? Would his style of play even translate? Could he make an impact on the ice? And most importantly, would he be able to make connections? He graduated to the big leagues with his best friend, Brandon Petan Jr., and his special someone in Slava Kovalenko, but that last question lingered in the back of his mind. It was answered sooner than he thought. When he isn’t on the ice burying shots into the back of the net and putting his body on the line for his team, River can most likely be found playing video games and occasionally streaming the sessions on Twitch for fans who wanted a better look at River, the person, not just the player. As expected, Brandon was often a name that popped up on these streams, as well as Xhekajs Middletoe, and even Slava when he wasn’t nose deep in a novel. But then, new names emerged like River’s fellow Moscow teammate, Pombo, Boris Bone-Breaker, Jay Sikes, and veterans like Andrew Skilton and Matteo Stefano. Despite his doubts, River had actually. . . made new friends. Ones he could find after games, catch up with, and go out and have a few beers with while planning what game they'd play next. If he was being honest, it was the most welcomed and embraced he’s ever felt in his life.
  3. Welcome to another edition of Kirby Rambles! Unfortunately this will be my last Rambles before my final semester at college begins, and I’m not quite sure I’m ready to be a functioning adult once I graduate, but the date is fast approaching. It’s kind of weird how my perception of time has been extremely messed up ever since the pandemic, because it felt like these past four years flew by like nothing. I can still remember not being able to sleep before my first day of college because I was so incredibly nervous. Anyway, enough about me. Let’s get into the VHL stuff. With Theme Week commencing tomorrow, I’m looking forward to seeing what topic BOG has decided on. I’ve also finally sent in my donation for this season so the doubles week for this Sunday and next will hopefully do wonders. My player, River Harrington, has had a good rookie season but I wouldn’t call it stellar. Since he’s on a strong Moscow team with a lot of support and on a pairing with the reigning best offensive defenseman Jillian Woods, this is to be expected, but as long as the team is successful, I’m just happy to contribute any way I can. Kinda crazy that I now get to play on the same VHL team as my first ever M GM and got to see many wonderful folks on that S84 waiver Marlins team follow in his footsteps! I definitely want to cook up a longer player interview spot in the future, but I’ll have to brainstorm and really get into the River character once more. In 44 games, River has 28 points (7 goals, 21 assists), and I was hoping my SC-PA gap would help with accumulating goals but ultimately not. Definitely something to workshop once I bank enough TPE to make a difference. Honestly, hybrid attributes are really interesting to me because unlike a goalie, where you can just dump TPE into one trait and know exactly when it’s going to bump up, you really have to think and strategize about what to do with hybrid attributes and make smarter decisions, which has been fun to try to figure out. Davos and Moscow’s seasons have been interesting thus far considering it’s a dogfight for the top half of the conference, with the lower half lagging behind after many seasons of being the more dominant of the two VHL conferences. Overall, Davos sits 4th and Moscow sits 3rd with just a single point separating each of the top four. It could go any way by the end of the season and I’m looking forward to seeing how it pans out. Onto VHFL, where I currently sit second in my group by just 14.4 points. With another half of the season to go, there is a lot of time to make up that gap and I’m hoping my squad of Goncalves, Bucatini, Tuominen, Leitner, Hardy, and Spider Panda can bring it home for me for a third season in a row. I’m still super confident with my picks and if my team, especially Bucatini and Goncalves, keep scoring and landing those SB and hits like mad, I could be poised for success once more. With that, concludes another Kirby Rambles! Thank you for tagging along and as always, hope to see everyone in the next edition.

  6. S97 marked the start of River Harrington’s rookie season in the VHL. As of Sunday, January 12, River has amassed 22 points (6 goals, 16 assists) in 33 games, which is a respectable number as a rookie defenseman. I’ve been focusing more on his offensive traits with the TPE I’ve earned, so hopefully we can see those numbers increase. He’s also a +10 for Moscow, with 2 GWG and 4 PPG. As for the defensive side of things, River’s racked up 35 hits and 41 shots blocked. To summarize what I think about my player’s performance thus far, I would love to aim for PPG, so we’ll see if that goal is attainable by the end of the season, though I know it may take a while to actually get my foot in the door in the big leagues, especially since this is my first rodeo with a skater, which is of course, so much different than being a goalie, and requires you to really think about what you’re spending TPE on and how much to bank before investing in more attributes. It’s been super fun to see how others have built their players and try to bounce ideas off of them as possible. Here’s to a successful rookie campaign!

What will be Davos’ key to success in S97? 5. A season onwards from the removal of the VHLE, have you noticed any significant impacts this change has had? 6. If so, how do you think your team will perform? 8. The Year of the Dragon is coming to a close: what is your Chinese zodiac animal?
  9. LONDON, ENGLAND — In his second professional VHL game for the Moscow Menace, River Harrington managed to nab his first career point: an assist on a David Rashford goal in a thrilling 5-3 win over the London United. It was a strong showing for the youngster as the Menace had just come off an opening loss to the Prague Phantoms a few nights prior. “Feels great to show that I belong out there with the best hockey players in the world,” Harrington said when asked about the feat in a post-game locker room media scrum. “I know I have a lot of work to do, but this is a good start. Now that I’ve got the apple, I’m looking for that first goal. And I wanna make sure it’s a beauty.” Harrington, drafted 2nd overall in the S96 VHL draft, had been lauded by scouts as one of the highest-rated prospects in his class, and expectations will continue to skyrocket throughout the season as it progresses.
  10. To start off this Kirby Rambles, the fall semester of my senior year of college just ended and I managed to get all straight As! Looks like all the pain and suffering was worth it. Despite the fact that I’m on break, it doesn’t exclude me from being busy unfortunately, as I had quite a few personal matters to take care of this holiday season, with my birthday coming up at the end of the week as well. This year wasn’t exactly sunshine and rainbows, especially these past couple of months, so I hope 2025 will be better, mentally and physically. Onto the VHL side of things (and more interesting side) now, River has officially graduated to the VHL with over 600 TPE! I’m hoping this will be able to muster up a decent rookie season, though I won’t go into it expecting a ROTY trophy or anything of the sort, considering the high quality competition he’ll be up against. Also since it’s the first time I’m building a skater, I don’t want to be too hard on myself, especially with the shortcomings I experienced in the VHLM last time around. I just want to see how he does and how I can build on it in the future, as well as contribute to Moscow’s success as a player. With a shaky EU conference this time around, both teams I’m associated with, Davos and Moscow, are expected to duke it out for the number one seed so I’m extremely excited to see how that battle pans out. My group also just finished drafting for VHFL and I ended up with a really solid team (in my opinion), in: Maverick Goncalves, Raimo Tuominen, Antonia Bucatini, Lucy Leitner, Felicia Hardy, and Spider Panda. I usually don’t do any research before jumping into the draft and wing it as I go. Since I had the 4th pick of my group, it was a slightly awkward place to be position-wise, but I think I did well with what I had. I usually go with a gut feeling and don’t overanalyze once I settle on who to draft because I don’t want any second guessing. Hopefully these players will bring me to glory, as I believe I’ve come in first out of all participants in VHFL for the past two seasons after a few second and third places finishes the seasons before, which is incredible. So that definitely gives me the confidence that I can once again do well this season, because on the other hand, I am AWFUL at Super Coach, so VHFL needs to make up for it. It felt like time had flown by with this new player. I definitely believe it didn’t feel like I was graduating to the VHL this quickly with Lachlan, and I think it’s because as a first gen, I was experiencing it all for the first time and soaking it all in. I definitely had a lot more work to do to earn TPE and learning the ropes than I do now and I’m grateful that this player has been a lot smoother to manage, especially now that I have connections I can talk to and reach out to whenever I need advice. While I know not every single player of mine will end up in the Hall of Fame, that won’t stop me from trying. I have also been extra cautious about burnout and hope to pace myself to prevent that, because you could definitely tell in the last months of Lachlan’s career my earning fizzled out. That’ll do it for this edition of Kirby Rambles. Thank you again to those who read to the end and I’ll see you in the next one!
