  5. Bartholomew Lorequavius was born in Cologne, Germany to a his father and mother. His father, Lasse Lorequavius was a Marine for the German military for many years of his life, and his mom Bonnie Lorequavius was a school teacher. Up until the age of twelve, Barthy was a normal child. He attended public school and played football as a kid just with his friends, and that was bout it. Hockey was not very popular where he was from, basically unheard of to him for the larger part of his childhood. Then it was dropped on him that they were moving to the USA just after his twelfth birthday, to a city named Michigan. It was super hard leaving all of his friends and moving a whole world away to a new place. He only knew how to speak German, so communication was impossible for a long time, which in turn isolated him from all of the other kids his age. So he decided to spend his time in his own thoughts while playing sports. He joined the football team for his High School Football team, and tried out various other sports like tennis, badminton, basketball... and hockey. None really stuck with him as much as football and hockey did. Just after he turned 15, he started making friends around his school as English began to catch on, and making friends with his football friends. After the last practice of the season just after his Football team won the state Championship, the locker room was buzzing with talk of the coming hockey season, as almost every player on the team would be joining. His best friend at the time, Jackson Mackson came up to him, and asked him if he would be joining this year. Bartholomew said he would see if he could find some gear. So That night Barthy talked to his parents and went thrift shopping for extra gear. Little did he or his parents know that they bought all goalie gear, and he would be forced to play goalie from then on out. His first season of hockey was absoloutly horrendous. He could barely stop a beach ball, and therefore the team finished last in the league. That offseason, the same time he would have been playing football, he decided to quit football. He loved the game, but he ended up being injured more than he was playing, as he was placed as a Defensive Lineman because he was a hulking 6'5". So instead he focused on training to be a better goalie than last season. He had a solid job working at as an apprentice welder, so he blew all of his money on brand new goalie equipment and renting ice time every week. He trained all off-season, working his hardest to improve, and refining his skills to a tee. That next season was amazing. He improved greatly, leading his team to finish second in the league, into the playoffs, and all the way to the finals. In game one of the finals he ended up blowing out his knee from getting ran over in the crease and was forced to sit the rest of the playoffs, which the team ended up losing. After the season, he was dead set on rebuilding his endurance so his knee would be ready for next season... until he was approached by a scout for a AAA U18 team. He would get paid for playing with them! He debated for a week or so before accepting, and started his first season there at the age of 17. He played extremely wall, so well that through 46 games in the season, he played 44, and had 42 wins. After a game out of town where he shut the door, closing down the second best team in the league (Next to his own), 3-0, he was approached by yet another scout. This time it was for the VHLM, specifically the San Diego Marlins. They were in the market for a backup for the rest of this season, and he fit perfectly into that role. Their was no week debate on this one. He immediately grabbed the pan and signed a 1.5 million dollar contract. He packed his things that night, and took a plane out to San Diego that morning. Later that night he dressed his first game, but didn't play, as expected. Only a few nights later he started his first ever game, against the Ottawa Lynx. He played a superb game, shutting the door for a 6-1 Victory, getting his first ever VHLM Win. Thigs started to fall into place after, recording 4 more wins in the same amount of games, 5 Wins in 5 Games, and that's where we sit now... May the journey continue for Bartholomew Lorequavius, and with it bring lots of wins and awards! 809 Words
