  1. Nathan Ecker was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on November 5th, 2007, into a loving family with his awesome mom and dad who helped him achieve his hockey dream but also an amazing sister, and the world's best dog. He has been lacing up his skates to get out on the ice since he was as young as 3 years old. Not soon after he began playing for the AAA Hamilton Huskies where Nathan quickly impressed and was a star for them until his last season of youth hockey, which was last year. One reason Nathan Ecker’s passing game is as good as it is, is because when he was 8 he was going in to take a shot from the high slot and got hit hard in the head causing a concussion which made him shy away from shooting as he was afraid of getting injured in that fashion again, this caused him to develop his passing, and hockey IQ so he could set people up and avoid contact like that from happening again. Even with the set back from that injury where a lot of people would have chosen to quit Nathan did not and decided to keep going due to a strong love for the game of hockey, his dad who got him into hockey to begin with, and his mentality that causes him to keep pushing to be the best he can. That was not his only injury that set him back during his youth as 5 years later when Ecker was 13 years old, he was caught at a bad angle when he was tripped and he slammed into the boards foot first causing a high ankle sprain on his right ankle which luckily did not serve as a major setback in his career as he made a pretty good recovery thanks in part to him having to wait on the sidelines for a while much to his chagrin due to doctor's orders but once he got back Nathan began playing at the same level he left off at after coming back from the ankle injury, but every now and then Nathan can screw up his ankle for a few days at time as he returned without a fully healed ankle against his doctors best wishes as he could not stand missing out on any more hockey. While in high school Nathan decided to join his school's varsity hockey team on top of his normal hockey team which added a lot more to his schedule, but he was fine with it as it meant more time doing what he loved. Ecker being on multiple teams did cause him to be exhausted from all the work he was putting in on both teams, but he persevered and built up some amazing stamina which allows him to be capable of taking on more ice time during his games. Furthermore, even with his tight schedule Nathan still managed to be a straight A student averaging a 95% through grades 9 and 10 as Nathan is still 16 that means he has this year in grade 11 and next year in grade 12 until he can graduate from high school. Nathan must be extremely popular among the students as a professional hockey player especially among the ladies and he is quite a handsome young man, now with all that said Nathan becoming a professional hockey player has caused him to be forced to drop his high school's team as the workload would be too much. Ecker now is overjoyed to be a part of the Houston Bulls for s93 of the VHLM, he signed for the legendary team as waiver signing along with many others such as Ondrej Vencko, Lucy Leitner, Dylan Boland, a fellow Nathan in Nathan Schwarts, Charles Losfeld, Cody Toland, Deez Nuts, and Filip Zinek. Furthermore, Nathan has been incredibly happy to work with the staff at Houston and is taking their advice to heart to improve his game so he be the best at hockey he possibly can. In his first two games as a Houston Bull Ecker managed to notch one assist in a 6-4 win over the Saskatoon Wild and was kept off the score sheet in a 2-1 shootout loss to the San Diego Marlins. Even though Ecker only has 1pt in two games this season averaging .5 pts a game he is still set to have a great rookie season if he continues developing at the insane pace he currently is developing at, he may also be one of the best offensive threats we will ever see in VHL one day, but we won't know that unless someone reading this has a time machine. In Conclusion, Nathan has had to put in a lot of hard work and overcome many obstacles that others may have not had the strength to overcome just to make to this point where he has a long way to go in his hockey career.
  2. Lets go Houston! and congrats to our captains
  3. A new prospect has burst onto the scene in the last few days and is making his debut tomorrow for the Houston Bulls. Nathan Ecker had played many games as a star winger for the AAA Hamilton Huskies before the Waiver signing that he made with Houston on January 7th, 2024. Ecker had an astonishing season with the AAA Hamilton Huskies getting 170 points in 82 games with 62 goals 108 assists. Strengths -Good passing coupled with good offensive vision to help set his teammates up well. -Good speed and skating to help with getting to the puck first and getting past defenders with speed. -solid deeking which will definitely help with getting past the defender in combination with his speed. -Has good shooting to help bury the puck when he ca not be setting up teammates. -Good size standing at a frame 6'0" 190lbs making him able to take and give contact without sacrificing other major areas. -He is fully committed to any team he is on. -Willing to go into the corners. -Has a high work ethic that has him working on improvements any hour of the day. -Has excellent communication on and off the ice with his teammates. Weaknesses -Needs to work on his defensive game as it can be lackluster at times to say the least. -Gets in his head too much and ends up being too harsh and critical of himself. -Can get tunnel visioned on the ice and tune out noise causing him to not hear his teammates or coaches. -Makes a lot of flashy passes about 60% do connect but with his passing skills he could do way better with passing and setting people up if he cuts down on these, he could be one of the best play makers we will ever see. -Puts himself in positions that make him very prone to big contact that could cause injuries. Expectations for the upcoming season With the new season coming tomorrow Ecker has a lot he needs to prove to show that he will be a VHL capable player. I do believe that Nathan will be able to succeed though as he is a highly competitive player who will fight tooth and nail to get to the top. Now with that out of the way I think that Nathan Ecker will have an adequate rookie season getting about 30-45 points which would be averaging about .5 points a game which is a reasonable expectation for a rookie.
  4. Cant wait to help this team become its best on and off the ice
  5. Since the last time we wrote a VHL.com article about Nathan Ecker he has made a lot of progress with his game and has a new team. In the time since the last article on Nathan Ecker he has joined the legendary Houston Bulls on a waiver signing that took place late last night, the signing was during a flurry of waiver signings heading down to Houston. He has also gone from about 60 tpe to 74 tpe with 8 more on the way with this article and one that should be going through an updater right now or sometime soon. Nathan has also been working very closely with the staff and veteran players at the Houston Bulls to improve his game as much as he can. In conclusion alot has happened since the last article on the kid from Hamilton Nathan Ecker, and I can tell you with 100% confidence that this kid will be going somewhere in hockey.
  6. Nathan Ecker has ended up as a Houston Bull after an eventful waiver period from the team. The deal was signed at 9:55pm on 1/07/24, it was signed roughly 40 minutes after the opening of the waiver period along with many other waiver signings that all will have a significant impact on the future of the Houston Bulls. Nathan has gotten of well with is new teammates in Houston sharing many conversation on numerous topics throughout many practices and in the locker room. Ecker also is soaking all information he is getting from the veterans and management group of the Bulls to maximize his impact on the ice. Nathan has been extremely eager to take part in his first game stating that "Sometimes the excitement of my first game will keep me up all night, and I cant stop thinking about during the day." He is looking at improving his offensive skills such as passing, shooting, deeking, etc he is also looking to improve his defence but not as much. During his short stay in lone star state he has been unexpectedly bombarded with love by passionate fan base who have had him sign many things some I don't think I could mention. Nathan Ecker is also enjoying his time in the city finding out a lot about it, and loving the warm weather compared to his home town of Hamilton, Ontario. The Houston Bulls had big team dinner to celebrate all of their new waiver signings, but did not tell them that the waiver signings were paying which luckily for them was split many different ways due to the mass income of waiver signings but that is not to say it was cheap as everyone decided to have some expensive taste. He is very ecstatic at the prospect of joining one of the best teams in the western conference dare I say the whole league with an impressive record of 52-16-4 with 108 points in 72 games played, they were one of the 6 teams to have a record equal to or above .500 last season which is quite the impressive feat. Nathan has grown dreaming to be a VHL player and now he can be one step closer to achieving that dream with the great franchise of the Houston Bulls who have a great team and managerial staff. Ecker is hoping to have an impressive rookie season to start a hockey legacy for generations to come. Nathan some questionable stats (4 in fucking grit why did I do that) and other good one like his speed at 10. In conclusion Nathan Ecker has been enjoying his stay in Houston after signing with the Bulls as a waiver along with many other waiver signings, he has been welcomed by the whole city and team as a hero to some, or a friend to others, and has made some questionable development choices but is getting on track with better development with the staff at Houston Bulls and is eager to enter VHLM competition. 516 words claimed for the week of 1/14/2024
  7. Thank you for such a warm welcome
  8. answer to q #1 Hello I'm Nathan Ecker and I am a Right wing for Houston Bulls, my favourite food is either tacos or chicken caesar wraps. answer to q #2 My plans as a Houston Bull this season is to have a solid performance to build a foundation for the rest of my career. answer to q #3 I was not drafted but I was picked up as a waiver player shortly after the draft, I was not sure what teams were interested or who I would sign for but I am very confident that I have made the right choice to join Houston. answer to q #4 If I was gonna bring something to a team bbq I would go Phil Kessel style and bring some hotdogs answer to q #5 I am planning on making my player a playmaker who is fast with great passing and setup stats, good shooting, a bit of toughness, with alright defense. answer to q #6 Houston will finish first this season answer to q #7 There are a lot of good options but I would have to go with rock or metal, my go to would be 7 nation army but AC/DC songs are always great for getting pumped. answer to q #8 on a road trip some good movies I would watch are the two goon movies, fast and furious movies, most sports movies and action movies probably. answer to q #9 If we were to go on a team vacation I would choose the Netherlands because I have always wanted to go there and I am a quarter Dutch because my grandma is a Dutch immigrant, and its a free vacation why wouldn't I go to a place i have always wanted to go with the boys.
  9. proud to be joining the bulls, and thank you for the advice when i joined
  10. There is a new prospect on the scene and he could be on of the best players we have seen in a long time, how about we dive into his story. Nathan Ecker was born on November 5th 2007 in the city of Hamilton, Ontario. He has loved the game of hockey since he can remember and has laced up the skates from the moment he could walk with a burning passion of the game. Nathan spent most of his younger playing days as a star on the Hamilton Huskies AAA team (now Hamilton Steel) and he is now ready to sign a contact with a team to enter professional competition. Ecker has a very solid offensive skill set that has a focus on playmaking and setting up players for goals with some decent shooting and mediocre defence that could be useful for any team that could use an offensive spark.
