The Victory Cup Curse is Real (Since S84)

Hmm I wonder also if there was any update to STHS around the S84 time when the curse appears to begin, maybe something behind the scenes— some evil Simon stuff. lol pure speculation. -

I had this exact same thought, when did the wildcard round start? -
I feel like a broken record sometimes but poke checks are my favorite
-
An incredible goalie and an awesome teammate who is so reliably consistent! I still can’t believe we got him in the 5th round

Prospect Scouting Report for Joseph Poole

Great scouting report! Excited to have you in Halifax -
It’ll come, we’re gonna get you some more ice time to help the cause as well
-
Chill, not that Bouchard
-
You’re gonna fit in great here… this team has an unhealthy obsession with poutine
-
Great episode! The segments you introduced definitely make it cleaner to listen to and keep the conversation more on point so that was great! I can’t wait for the next one!

They are actually very much disputable, and have for a long time been the source of much debate and even war. I don’t think you can even prove your own existence, even though it seems self evident. Every statement, theory, or fact rests on assumptions that we take as “knowledge” because they allow us to move and function and not endlessly spin our wheels, but there is no categorical certainty about any of it. It’s one of the reasons why Descartes “cogito ergo sum” doesn’t hold up because it assumes its conclusion in its proposal, “I think therefore I am”. You can’t assume the “I” in your proof of the “I am”, it’s like using a word to define itself. If you can prove your own existence to me then maybe I’ll change my mind. But I don’t think you can. The number of holes to poke in any argument is practically infinite because so much is assumed— which is why the only way to categorically prove anything is to know the origin of all things and work backwards. Again, this isn’t life changing, it just means you “know” less than you think. More than anything, this is a linguistic and semantic distinction based on the way we use words rather than a philosophical one.

1+1=2 is probably true and seems to work in all applications, but our scope of the universe is so incredibly minuscule that to claim we know anything absolutely is incredibly anthropocentric. Human existence on the earth makes up such a small portion of the history of the earth, throwing it back to ancient Egypt barely scratches the surface. Saying you can’t know anything doesn’t mean what you think you know isn’t true. It just means that there is no certainty until you can explain the origin of the universe and work your way backwards. If you don’t accept that then you have a problem with the scientific method. Why do you need to be so certain that you “know” anything?

I will say I’m happy you got drafted to Riga and I hope to be teammates sooner than later! Hope you keep at it and stick around
-
Not a big fan of Bouchard, but this is Let’s go Riga!!!

Well nobody can truly know anything because there’s no way to guarantee what you think you know is true. This doesn’t preclude you from having opinions— in fact that’s really all of what science is, educated and informed opinions a.k.a. theories or hypotheses. It’s still worthwhile to have a working theory, opinion, or belief as it can lead deeper and stimulate conversation, but nothing is ultimately provable unless you have knowledge of the end of all things I.e. the origin and end of the universe. Its my belief that you have never listened to good death metal.

somebody's got that finger on a necklace like a rabbit's foot to wear as a good luck charm Edit: I may or may not know who that is... -
Bone-Breaker as advertised! We miss him already

At the time of writing this, the Halifax 21st sit at a record of 10-8-0 with an even goal differential. Coming into this season, there was some chatter about the potential of this draft class for Halifax, but most commentors were not sold on the idea that this team could be remotely competitive this season as it featured too many first gen players with a lot of ground to make up in the earning department. To be clear, it's still far too early to make any bold predictions about how far the 21st can extend their current run of form. We're barely a quarter of the way into the season with plenty of sim hockey still to come-- but we can acknowledge that this is a solid start for a team that came into the season greener than Kermit the Frog. In the two and a half weeks since the VHLM dispersal draft, Halifax's 15 players have all remained active and updating every week, and have earned a combined total of 599 TPE! Leading the way for the team during this time is waiver acquisition Mikko Tuomala @flyersfan345 (76 TPE), followed closely by Chad Powers @Big_Dyl (69 TPE), Kazuma Satou @Spartan (68 TPE), and Pelayo Bolivar @SMYLS4 (67 TPE). And though there's a slight dropoff after this group, players like Steven Nichols @SlyDigi (45 TPE) and John Babydeer @Bobo (43 TPE) have also made significant gains in this short timeframe. Since the draft, no player on Halifax has earned less than 20 TPE. There has been commitment and improvement across the board and the results are starting to show in their games with the team winning 7 of their last 8. For the first week of S96, the Halifax 21st are proud to announce the first ever double recipients of the weekly SuperSailor honor. In the past, it's been given only to a single player each week who best exhibits all the qualities of a good teammate-- being active in the locker room, building themselves up through persistent earning, performing well in games, and sometimes even putting forward some creative or engaging forum content. Both Mikko Tuomala and Pelayo Bolivar have checked all these boxes so far for Halifax. Both players have been present in the locker room and engaged in team activities this past week, and both were among the top TPE earners in the league. They both also have been relatively productive in the team's games so far. Tuomala, who three weeks ago only had 54 TPE, is now up to 130 and has notched 8 points. Bolivar joined the team with 73 TPE and has increased his total up to 140 while collecting 9 points. Doubling their TPE totals has allowed them both to quickly become impact players in the VHLM and they'll only continue to get better from here. What really stands out especially, however, is their collaborative creative effort off the ice this past week. Being friends before they joined the 21st, @SMYLS4 and @flyersfan345 recorded a great podcast together about the VHLM and the progress of the Halifax 21st so far. This kind of initiative so early into their players' careers really bodes well for their future in the league, not only from an earning perspective, but also as contributors to the community of the VHL. Congratulations to Pelayo Bolivar and Mikko Tuomala, our SuperSailors for the first week of S96! Honorable Mentions: Chad Powers @Big_Dyl, who's impressive earning of 69 TPE hasn't quite translated into incredible goalie numbers yet, still managed a respectable 4-4 record so far and has been a constant presence around the team. Petr Novak @LastGoon007 also deserves some love since Simon clearly hates him. Having scored his first point of the season in the team's 18th game, Novak has been a great teammate thus far and will certainly be a big part of the Halifax blueline in the future. The points will come... eventually. ༻❁༺

@Ricer13 thank you for the trade talks and for helping g facilitate this with @Mysterious_Fish. I appreciate how easily it all went! I hope this works out for all teams involved! @RileyL you were an incredible player for us and I hope this trade can be positive for both you and for Halifax going forward. You have a fantastic player and a great VHL career ahead of you. All the best in Miami! Go break some more bones, just go easy on Halifax

1. My favorite hockey player growing up was Joe Pavelski. As a Sharks fan, he was their best captain imo and an amazing player considering how late he was drafted. Little Joe > Big Joe. Right now though, my favorite players are probably Jack Hughes and Claire Thompson. 2. My number one rookie in the NHL is Macklin Celebrini and it's such a buzzkill that he's not playing right now, but he'll be back soon, hopefully... In the VHL, I'm excited to see how Ahsoka Tano does! I think Tano could have win rookie of the year and @Aimee is a great member of the community! 3. I'd want to play for Malmo. That's my favorite team just based purely on aesthetics, but they've also had some really cool people who played there that were really kind to me early on so I have a special soft spot for that team and I'd love to have my player on that team someday. QUESTIONS: 1. You get to recolor or redesign the logo for your current VHL/M team, how would you change it? 2. Would you rather score 200 points individually and finish last in the league with your team, or score 10 points alone and win the Continental/Founders Cup? 3. Do you think a player that leads the league in scoring while playing on a last place team should be considered for MVP? And is there a certain amount of points they would need to lead the league by to be considered?

Amazing first podcast!!! I’m super excited to hear more of these in the future and I know you’ll find creative ways to improve it as you go, but it was genuinely a fun listen! The audio thing wasn’t that bad honestly and I’m sure it’ll be cleaner next time the intro song was hype though! I think your analysis of the teams, and especially Halifax’s issues so far, was really good and you were on point with a lot. I’ve got some ideas we can chat about more, but I won’t share them here for the benefit of other teams You guys have been crushing it so far and it’s been really inspiring and fun to see! I think you both have long and successful VHL careers ahead of you if you can keep earning and creating awesome stuff like this I’m so happy to have you both on Halifax and it can only improve for us from here!
